She was a good teacher, but very hard. She was TOO passionate about her class and wouldn't waste a second of it. She really wanted her students in geography to be successful. I am VERY sorry to hear that she has passed away.

Gail Hobbs died of pancreatic cancer February 8, 2009. While she was sometimes petty and strict, you just knew her passion for geography was unmatched. She will be missed.

Hobbs is a nice teacher who cares too much. She is friendly and the final is not cumulative. You don't get through that much in the class, but there are 4 maps that are required to complete. Other than that, just show up for class and it's not so bad.

Mrs. Hobbs was by far the best teacher I have ever had!! She was very strict but kind and helpful. You have to follow directions in the class or you will not succeed. She teaches very well and I learned SO much! I would TOTALLY recommend her to anyone!!!!

Her extreme passion for the subject makes her go off on tangents about the practical applications relating to Geo. and life thus allowing her to cover very little of her outlines per lecture. She is very "Catholic School" with regards to mannerism, ethics, and responsibility. She is a perfectionist and very thorough.The book helps when you're lost.

Professor Hobbs is extremely helpful. She teaches well, and she is passionate about her subject. This class is not an easy one, it's hard to pull out an A. In order to do so, you will need to dedicate a lot of your time. She is very nice and friendly person. She made me like geography.

Comment:

One of the best professors I've ever taken. Very enthusiastic about teaching and knows materials. Be sure to follow her instruction for HWs because she docks points for tiny little stuff. Tests are straightforward not tricky. I took summer but the final covered a lot. She doesn't grade on a curve nor give out any extra credit because of summer.

I had her for both Geography one and two... I got A's both times... She is easy if you do the work (maps) she assigns, come to class, and study for your tests you will most definately get an A... She is great... if you can take her honors geography 2 class do it, there is no final, you bring food, explain how you made it, and hang out. She's great!

at first it seems a little haphazard when she wanders off topic, but then you realize that if you wanted a strictly academic course you can buy the book and not need a teacher. she introduces interesting examples to supplement concepts in the book, but her style is a little old fashioned (slideshows, etc.) still it's worth it.

I have had more fun in a four hour class than in this one and a half hour class. She isn't that difficult, just study the online outlines and do the extra credit. It might seem the EC is a waste of time and lacks devotion due to the limit of only 15 points, but trust, if you work hard and get B high C's on the tests it matters a lot. I got a B

She is a good teacher. She starts the semester like she is really mean and hard but after a month she starts offering all this extra credit and lightens up a bit. Her outlines are what you need to study for the tests. They arent tricky but you need to know all of the info she talks about.
