He's a tough professor, but in a good way. He really wants you to learn the material and tests you on it accordingly - Tests can be hard. If you don't put effort into the class - you will not likely pass. It's an interesting class with great group discussions. STUDY! If you study you will do just fine.

I took several classes with this professor. He really knows his stuff and if you put in the effort he will help you. Tests and quizzes are not hard if you pay attention and take notes. He fully believes that if he should care about this then you should. He also was one of the only professors to help me with some sticky situations dealing with grad.

Loved him! I had him for multiple classes because he is the only professor I've actually learned anything from! He's really hard on you but that's how it should be. You actually get your what you pay for with him!

Hammil is great. He is a little rough around the edges, but I respect him and his humor. He does a nice job explaining things and helps students not make the same mistakes he's seen over and over. Offers feedback and help whenever you need it. Highly recommend taking a class with him.

I was somewhat offended on how condescending he was towards his students. He basically treats people like children. His lectures are scatterbrained at best, and test difficulty is inconsistent, some were extremely difficult, some were fairly easy. I would avoid him unless you prefer a boot-camp style of learning. I won't be taking him again.

I loved this class! At first I was intimidated by Professor Hammil but he definitely takes this course seriously. I learned so much from this class. And although, I thought the class was going to be hard, it was fairly easy. Attendance is mandatory but I guarantee you that you will leave this class with so much knowledge. He is my favorite teacher!

Takes what he does extremely seriously and expects his students to do the same. Upfront with exactly what will be covered in the class and sticks to the syllabus. Overall, I enjoyed this class, and hope to have him again for future media courses.

Very demanding, takes no BS. Excellent theory course. Sprang a final-exam-turned-research-paper on us at the last minute which was unfair. Do the work, show effort and engage in discussions. This is not a "coast through in the back" kind of class.

He teaches pretty much the same thing in every class! I used to like this guy, but I think he's going senile. He bad attitude is annoying and his knowledge from his professional life is out of date. (It's been 21 years since he's been in the business). He's teaching old stuff.

I had Professor Hammill for two classes, one production based, and one theoretical based. I understand how some people say he comes off as a jerk, but the guy really cares about his students, and if you show interest and are willing to learn he'll make sure you're taken care of.

He was a total jerk. He knew his stuff but seemed to enjoy singling out people just to make himself feel better. He must have been picked on as a kid and is taking out his revenge on his students. He contradicts himself too. I dont like his "i hate everyone if they dont agree with me" attitude. If you can stay away from him...do it.

I didn't like his attitude but he made sure we understood the material and was very clear about what we had to do to be successful. I hated the group work because most of the students in the class were mediocre or worse and we had NO input as to who's in our group-I felt like I was being dragged down by mine. Class discussions were interesting.
