Comment:

Rude, especially when you have to give presentations. She will interrupt you mid presentation to critique and questions, rather than save questions till the end of presentation. No break during 3 hour lecture, which makes class boring. Book is required but I did not read entire chapters, only skimmed. Take detailed notes and you will pass exams.

This professor is rude, abnoxious, goes off topic, asks you to write papers (where your opinion is wanted), then she marks you wrong for your own opinion because it is not what she believes is correct. If you mispell a word or misuse a character (even though it isn't an english class) say goodbye to a good score.

Comment:

I've never written a review on here before but this website always helps me choose my professors wisely. Professor Dosik is rude and a hard grader. I wrote 2 papers that I should've been 100's but she refuses to give a perfect grade. Took 1 pt off just because. So irritating. I think the essays on her tests are hard, vocab is easier.

Her knowledge of only the few subjects was apparent. Many topics she didn't know about and so made very sweeping generalizations. She has no empathy for students and no sensitivity for the topics she discusses. Showed very disturbing videos for no purpose and with no warning about graphic content. Lectures straight from the book.

I was looking forward to this class but Dr. Dosik just made me lose my passion for it. While her exams are easy and straight from the readings/lectures, her written assignments cause unnecessary stress. She'll ask you to write about your opinion but then will take off points because you're wrong. Tough grader on what should be easy material.

She is very knowledgeable in the topic. Class lectures were interesting. You have to attend lecture and take good detailed notes in order to pass the exams. Exams require a lot of writing but if you attend lecture you will pass. She is very helpful during office hours and offers extra credit for students that need to boost their grade.

I love Dr. Dosik. Ive taken two classes with her and I plan on taking more. She is very down to earth and cares about her students success. You can talk to her about anything, she gives great advice. Be present in class, take notes, study for the exams and youll be good. She gives extra credit opportunities & lots of points to bring up your grade!

Dr. Dosik is an amazing! She expects a lot from her students and makes you work for your grade by simply assigning small work throughout the semester. Her exams are almost impossible to not get an A on, plus she slightly curves. You just MUST go to class every day because she does not post notes. Study the lectures and you will be fine.

Pretty hard class. If you're gonna take it, make sure that you are ready to apply yourself and go to her for office hours. You can learn a lot from this course if you're interested in the topic, but I'd recommend taking the course with an easy schedule. If you're looking for an easy A/B this class is not for you.

SOC. 202 was a breeze with Dr. Dosik. This lady knows her stuff! The class isn't too hard. Exams correlate with her notes so attendance matters. Throughout the course, it's about 5 quizzes, a book review (Nickel & Dimed) & group work assignments. Dr. Dosik is very thorough & makes the material sound easier in her own words.

Before the first exam, go to her office hours and make sure to do the study guide. Do all the homework, make sure you attend class she knows you by name, and if you are in probation let her know the first week of school because she is aware who you are and will help you.

Some of these reviews scared me before I took her but she's one of the best professors in Sociology! Textbook isn't necessary so don't buy the book but you do need the reader. Gives tons of Extra Cred. A decent amount of HW & writing. She lets you redo HW if you do poorly! 1 group assignment with random partners was the only bad part. TAKE HER! :)

Professor Dosik seems scary at first but she has been one of my favorite teachers. Tests are all written exams with plenty of material but if you study you'll be fine. There's even extra credit on every test. If you need help go ahead and ask her. She always asks students to come to her when they need help. Definitely take her, it was worth it.

She is the worst!!! I don't recommend her at all! if you can get another teacher please do. She is so boring and she goes off on other subjects and doesn't even tell you she is going to change. She talks way to much and way to fast if you aren't a fast writter you're kind of screwed. You have to take notes and at the same time listen and learn.

Obviously if you ask her for help she'll help you in her office hours only. Test material are mostly based on the book but she does hour long lectures that are mandatory because attendance is important in this class. She's a tough grader! You misspell a word and there goes 80% of your grade. I don't recommend.

If you take good notes, you won't need the book. Tests are summary based, relate terms or theory to how it relates to aging. 1 Group presentation, based on presenting a summary of a scholarly journal and critiquing it. She seemed to enjoy the ones on successful aging. Get points by critiquing journals presented. Other minor papers. Easy class.

This professor is a quality professor. You don't see much of these. She's passionate about her teaching and really wants EVERYONE to learn. Even those who don't want to, she wants to uplift those at the bottom and have them pass. It's an interesting class, and she will be there for you 100%. She's not easy, but she doesn't make things impossible.

We had 7 quizzes, the final is a final quiz which was super helpful. Really good material and it's interesting as well. You show up you pretty much pass.
