Doc was a FANTASTIC professor who was inspirational and easily approachable with concerns and questions. He was a truly extraordinary individual whom made some of my classes exceptional beyond expectations. I recently discovered he passed away and was sad to hear of Hope College and the students' loss of a fantastic human being. He will be missed.

Really, really sweet man. Great stories and hilarious random comments. I'm awful at Spanish so it was hard for me, but nothing super unmanageable. All of class is lecture based and exams are a page written in English that needs to be translated to Spanish. Great man though.

How can you not love the Doc? He's a sweet man. If you are in Spanish to get a GenEd out of the way, maybe don't take him. But if you are serious about the language, he is absolutely necessary to take at least one of his classes. No matter if you like him or not, there is not another prof like him and just seeing him teach is an experience.

Intelligent guy. Fun class. He takes the time to know everyone's name which I really love when professor's do that. I've taken courses where professors don't even care what your name is and they usually end up being the worst ones. Teaches you Spanish that you can actually use in day to day life.

Such a nice guy and very intelligent, but the class is a JOKE. Don't get me wrong, easy classes are great (zero homework, simple essay exams), but I would have liked to learn a bit more in an entire semester. Class was non-interactive and pretty boring...did not improve my Spanish, unfortunately.
