As a former graduate student at GWU(1991-1994), I am surprised by the the amount of vitriol heaped upon Prof. Irving Glick. I took four courses with Irving Glick and received 3 A's and 1 B. Mathematics is a subject that requires plenty of hard work. Many college and high school students don't study and don't do their homework.

Don't take this class unless you took calc in high school loved it but got sick the day of the AP exam. If you allready know calc, this is the easiest class in the world, but if you don't, your screwed. This is an easy A if you remember calc and have had econ.

So I taught myself calculus this semester & I did well but lost lots of sleep. The class average was probably an F - Half the people in the class dropped the class after the midterm (average was a mid-40). Quizzes are fair, Tests, not so much. TA did not help AT ALL - very bad at explaining the material - Glick is worse. AVOID THIS TEACHER!

WAY too much math theory taught in class, he should focus more on numerical examples (especially for those of us that are not math majors!). If you just do the hw on your own and understand it, you'll be fine. I recommend getting an answer manual to help with the hw. I stopped going to class and just did the hw on my own - and got a B.

His quizes and tests are very fair. If you do your HW, it's not that hard. I know people think he is mean, but he really isnt mean... His class is boring though. Make sure you get the HW problems and know how to do them.

Although he is an intelligent individual, I feel that he is a terrible professor. His strict use of theory and refusal to provide numerical examples led to a confusing semester. However, I did find that he was willing to help me during office hours.

i don't understand how this man is allowed to go on teaching. avoid his class at all costs. he doesn't explain jack and won't help you outside class because he's too busy. not friendly or helpful at all.

This guy is a total lunatic. Even though I basically knew everything from this class, he would use questions that have equations that are impossible to simplify, so the problem would be impossible to complete. Once, in class he did a problem example that took up three whole white boards of algebra.

the tests and quizes are fair for the most part... DONT GO TO CLASS... he will only confuse you... learn everything from the book and go to the recitations, the ta doesnt teach you anything but at least you see some problems and know when tests and quizes are

don't take him, its awful. he goes too fast and confuses you even more by never doing examples and only proving formulas using variables. its just awful. i have never had calc, and i passed because i got a tutor. i highly recommend peer tutors for his class.

just kill yourself now, the quizzes kill you but the exams were a lot easier, i dont know if going to class helps, if you already know calc dont go he'll confuse you. if you never took calc like me learn from someone else. i didnt do well on the quizes and ended up with an A- ..so you never know

wow. terrible. i stopped going to class because i could not understand anything he talks about. read the book, it makes more sense. he doesn't accept questions, or if he does he answers them unclearly. unhelpful class for learning calc, i've basically had to teach it to myself.
