He's a very engaging and knowledgeable guy, willing to hear any questions you may have in class. His tests can be tricky if you don't know what he's asking for, but he clearly explains everything in class. Nearly no homework, fun lectures.

Since my first qtr with Dr. Mauger in SOC101, I have taken every class I could that he instructed. He is a well-traveled and interesting person with awesome lecture skills. He invites lively discussion on a variety of subjects (not even necessarily on topic). He is upfront about expectations and if you follow through and review you will do well.

Awesome professor. Very helpful, though you should meet him in his office or nab him before or after class. Email correspondence is rather tough. He welcomes discussion in class. He also refuses to make students pay for texts and offers a free access online equivalent.

If you're going to take Sociology at PC, I highly recommend taking it with Dr. Mauger. The notes from his lectures are everything you need to pass the class. His exams are easy if you can pay good attention to what he emphasizes in the lectures, and review your notes consistently. He wants to see that you can think critically.

Excellent professor, the depth and breadth of his knowledge is easily noticeable the first time he lectures to the class. I thoroughly enjoyed a topic I otherwise wasn't very interested in. He ties everything together and speaks without referencing his notes. I was extremely impressed.

I took Sociology from him last quarter. As long as you attend class regularly and take good notes, it is not too difficult. The class is lecture based, so know that going in. I found the subject matter very interesting, although the lengths of the lectures made it somewhat dull at times. I would definitely recommend this class.

I took physical anthro. Tests were tricky. *Use the terms that are taught appropriately in your answer*. He wants to ensure that you "get it". He appreciates classroom participation and knowledgable, challenging questions. I agree that he can be easily sidetracked if asked about the Makah or the graving yard. Take good notes.

I took his cultural anthropology and understanding diversity classes and I liked them.He does lecture a lot but he appreciates participation. He also tells you his biases and where he stands which is a good change from other professors who never tell what their views are.

He was biased, opinionated, and closed-minded. He loved to hear himself talk, unfortunately I did not.

Don't take his class if you don't speak up in class! He doesn't like the quiet ones, but he definately knows what he's talking about and cares about it. If you want to sidetrack him bring up anything about the Makahs or the graving yard.

Casual guy who is always willing to answer questions and provide additional information, despite his rather intimidating appearance. Very knowledgeable and passionate about subject area. Sits on table and talks directly TO the class rather than reading out of a book or filling the board with notes. Only a few small homework assignments; tests are somewhat tricky until you get the hang out them.

Sometimes it seems as if he listens to the pretty girls who flirt with him and act stupid more than the rest of the class.
