Dr. Hendricks is hilarious. He tells crazy stories of him and his fellow jazz musicians in their prime. The class is also incredibly easy. If you can manage to sign up for History of Jazz with Jon Hendricks, I'd say it's a must.

He is a great musician, but a very boring teacher! when i took the class he was barley there, his assistant Glenda was always there, but shes really nice and she knows what shes talking about. You get a study guide before each test that tells you EXACTLY what to study. I never went to class except for the week of the tests and i got a B+.

Wow. Easiest class and the most educational. odd combo, I know! You don't need a book, he is the book! I had no knowledge of jazz and I didn't really like it until I took this course. Any other prof and it would of sucked. Jon is amazing and irreplaceable. One of UT's hidden gems! See him play at Murphys if you ever have the chance! TAKE THIS CLASS

Jon Hendericks is probably one of the most interesting teachers to listen to at UT. All he does is tells stories about him and his jazz buddies and his carrer as a musician. Class is not as easy as I thought it would be though. The TA tests you on material that is never covered in class and only study guides for practicing.

HAHA What a joke. Hendricks is cool and his jazz stories are fun. He goes into political rants (many subjects I agree with) but there is no need for them in a jazz class. The TA is clueless and you learn very little. The class is the easiest A you can ask for (unless you are dumb)

Hendricks is a cool guy. Tells hilarious stories. Only at class about half the time. TA does the teaching and tests. This is not an easy A class like everyone has said. The tests are from the book's content, barely at all to do with what Hendricks says.

He is definately my favorite teacher since I've been at Toledo. He was so full of information and stories. It was a once in a lifetime oppurtunity to deal with someone that was really there during that time. He is an amazing teacher and a amazing teacher.

Really great writer and teacher. His class is basically him telling stories about hanging out with all of his old Jazz buddies (the big stars of jazz) and playing songs that he wrote. The tests were mainly about his stories and a little bit from the book
