This class was horrible. Dr. Barton was consistently late to class, scatterbrained, and unhelpful. She would assign things for the next class and not get around to reviewing them for a week or more. Tests were difficult and there was material on them that was not ever covered in class. She is a very nice person, but she's a terrible teacher.

Seeing Dr. Barton's A grade on here was truly baffling to me. She taught very little, was detrimentally disorganized, and was just downright nasty to her students- often ranting about no one paying attention if questions were asked. Please, if you value your GPA or the Spanish language at all DO NOT take this woman.

Dr. Barton is one of the best professors I have ever taken and will probably ever take. Her punctuality isn't necessarily the greatest, but everything else about her is fantastic. Really cares about her students, is actually an educator and is very into her subject of teaching. I highly recommend anyone who needs or wants to take Spanish to takeher

I wish I was joking when I say she was nearly 20 min late to the final exam. My four years of high school Spanish saved me from failing. She is poorly organized, tardy almost everyday, and you will feel like you are in high school spanish. If you are taeking a higher level spanish please spare yourselves.

Horrible professor I would seriously advise you to NOT take her. Yes, she's a sweetheart but she's 10-20 minutes late to class everyday, test and quizzes randomly on material she doesn't teach and grades unreasonably. She doesn't prepare you well for any test or quiz or help in any way. I've learned nothing this semester.

She would be a good professor for lower level Spanish courses. I had her for 220, and though it was extremely easy and a very easy A, my Spanish skills decreased severely because it was too easy. If you are serious about learning the language do not take her for higher level classes.

Dr. Barton is superrrr easy! She goes over everything like 10 million times, and pretty much hands you all of the material on the tests. There are online assignments, but they're easy. As long as you go to class you're fine.

She was the most helpful teacher I've had so far at IUP. she understands your problems and gives you help no matter what. She's so lenient on assignments and gives you the benefit of the doubt. Other than the class itself she's so nice and loves to joke around. I can't wait to take her again next semester.

Great teacher! She doesn't use the textbook much but uses the workbook for homework (doesn't collect it using the honor system). Culture is stressed with interesting poems/stories by famous latin writers to illustrate Spanish preterite and imperfect tenses. Gives opportunities for extra credit. Final informal conversation test was non-stressful.

I dont know why these people say she was terrible and boring. She actually cared about her students and was helpful outside of class. She has had personal problems just like everyone else. If you ignorant people would give her a chance, shes alot smarter than you and have been more places than you will ever go. Take her, trust me.

She is not a good professor! She delays tests all the time because she spends three days on pointless things. The tests are not too bad but she gades them pretty harshly. Also, the attendance policy is pretty strict. She is late to class almost every day, then runs long. AVOID!

She's really nice and her class is very easy. I actually enjoyed it and got an A. The tests are always fairly simple and there isn't a lot of collected homework.
