Comment:

Larry has been my favorite professor on the UWSP campus for three years now. Come to class willing to learn and be sure to pay attention to the lectures. Wouldn't recommend taking his class if you're not passionate about the topic because it requires a lot of time and dedication. Well worth every second spent in his lectures!

Great prof, knows his information. Attendance may be mandatory, but if you won't show up you will have to read his textbook and learn yourself. Don't procrastinate learning the information, because there's a lot of it.

Larry gives you all the things you need to succeed in his class, but the mass amount of memorization required to meet his specific standards is extremely difficult and somewhat over the top for a class meant for beginners. He is extremely passionate about what he does, but be prepared to work your butt off.

Incredibly smart and fun to listen to. Lectures are great. However the memorization is crazy, if you don't have the brain for it, you'll get Cs on everything. Tons and tons of small details to remember.

Larry is the quintessential professor that is absolutely knowledgeable and passionate about his field. Wonderful speaker--I wouldn't want to miss one minute of his lectures. The textbook he wrote for the class is packed with information that is fun to read and easy to digest, with lots of humor. Great fun to read. One of the best professors ever!

I'd say Larry Ball is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is extremely passionate about his field and it shows in his lectures. He is also super accessible and ready to help you pass if you are willing to put in the effort.

Almost too much memorization. Sure, he wrote the textbook, but it's too much for a level 100 class. I shouldn't have to memorize 50-70 different pieces of art in two languages, remember the city it was made in, the artist, years, an era when I'm only going to be tested on two things. Why not make me write essays on a couple of the cartouches???

If you listen to his lectures and care about the subject you will love this class. His lecture are engaging and exciting; this makes him my favorite professor. I don't take notes ever; I can't listen if I am writing and I've never gotten less than an A on exams or take home essays. He makes it easy, all you have to do is CARE.

Quality of images that were used for powerpoint presentations couldn't get any better (unless witnessed in-person) Majority were taken by him personally & further detail could be described vividly and thoughtfully. Lectures delivered: incredibly thorough, concise, thought-provoking w bits of great humor. Incredible talent for teaching all around.

Larry ball is the archetype professor. He carries the class in a manner which bespeaks his vast knowledge and experience. He literally wrote the textbook that you will be reading from. If you skip class you will suffer, and you'll miss out on the coolest lectures of your life. He literally does everything in his power to help you.

Larry is a wonderful teacher. I took both ART 387 and 391 at the same time and it requires dedication, but it really pays off and you learn so much! He makes otherwise tedious material fun and cohesive.

Larry is a great professor, but you have to be committed and interesting in the material to do well in the class. He is so passionate and so smart that he can make the material very interesting, but the studying really is in your hands. He gives you all the material to do well in his class though and he will always answer questions.

THE HARDEST CLASS EVER. He's a good teacher, but expects SO MUCH WORK. He writes the textbook, so it's easy to read, its long, but he wants you to regurgitate the entire thing back to him on the essays. Super tough grader, BE PREPARED TO STUDY YOUR BOOTY OFF. I would not reccommend this as a Gen Ed to anyone who wants their sanity.

Larry Ball is the smartest person I know. He has high expectations.His class is very hard, but very interesting! He is very passionate. He even wrote the textbook online that you use for the class. That said, never ever miss class. He moves so fast. He can be intimidating, but don't be afraid to ask for help for this class. And study hard!

Larry Ball. Where do I start? Throughout my 4 years at UWSP he has been my go to for bringing passion into my work. He inspires me more than any professor has. He is knowledgable and communicative with his students. He answers questions well and as long as you work your butt off, you should get at least a C in his classes. He is a rare gem at UWSP.

Larry Ball. What is there to say bad about him? He is the most passionate, knowledgeable professor I have ever had. I look forward to attending his classes and learn so much about art history. His work load is tedious but it's exciting and he does a good job relating his teaching to the students. Overall I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
