Comment:

Len is a fantastic professor. He clearly loves organic chemistry and is very helpful if you choose to go talk to him. His tests are very fair and will be straight forward. If you clearly understand all the material you will not be tricked on his exams. Had him for Orgo 1 and Orgo Lab. Great guy.

Comment:

He's clearly very interested in chemistry, but less so in teaching. He's very soft spoken, and sometimes it seems like he gets carried away when talking, almost as if he forgets that he's teaching it instead of just talking about what he likes, so can be easy to doze off during lecture. I had to teach myself everything as lecture was not helpful.

At first, I thought he would be boring, but his explanations are really easy to understand. In the end, he wasn't boring, and his exams were very fair.

Orgo lab was an awesome class with Dr. MacGillivray! The class is time consuming with so many labs and lab reports but they are graded extremely fairly and the tests are also very straightforward. Not too stressful of a class at all and is definitely an easy A if you put the time in!

He is a great professor, very sharp and knows his stuff. He's humble and down to earth, and office hours are really helpful. Exams are straight forward if you are consistent and diligent in your studying. Overall, a great professor!

This class is of course very difficult, however he is really sweet and cute. Seems kind of shy. He's very approachable, and seems to be a much better teacher than many others in the chemistry department here.

"Hot Len" was a new professor when I had him. He was very interested in chemistry and tried to make the class equally interested. His exams were harder, but that may be due to his age. A wonderful person with a great career ahead of him.

Not that I enjoy Organic Chemistry but I think Dr. MacGillivray is darling, he looks kind of like John Cusack. Even though the subjects he teaches are difficult, I appreciate his enthusiasm and interest.
