She really is a very nice person - but be prepared for lots of homework. Actual teaching is lacking - you pretty much have to teach yourself. YouTube is your friend. She is not timely about returning tests so you don't have an idea of your standing. If you attend class regularly, turn in all assignments and projects you have a shot at passing

Although she was a very nice person, she's not a good teacher. Her tests are almost impossible to pass, so the entire grade was dependent on how well you do your homework and on your projects. She doesn't teach the content, everything you learn you learn by yourself. My class average was a 50% so almost nobody passed the class. I don't recommend.

Horrible teacher. This is the second time of taking her class and I am still struggling. Her exams are insanely hard, hardly anyone gets above a B (almost everyone fails) and she gives multiple assignments in a day without explaining the material. She cares more about giving the material than teaching it, aka you mostly end up teaching yourself

Marylin would give multiple assignments everyday without going over any of them in depth. Weekly quizzes were a struggle for me and her exams are brutal. Theres luckily a ton of homework points so Id recommend doing all the assignments and getting as many attendance points as you can. The easy points carried my grade since I got Ds on every exam

Had this professor for Precalc and she was a very tough professor. Lots of homework and test are difficult but she has lots of ways to earn points in class. And she will always do whatever she can for help if you go to her office hours. As long as you stay on top of homework and study for test. She is a good professor.

Horrible, absolutely horrible. Never had such a bad teacher. Wouldn't explain problems in different ways - if you didn't get it the first time, you're screwed. Tests were so hard as we weren't allowed calculators TO DO MATH! Save yourself the pain and don't take anything taught by her. I worked my butt off for my B.

Very nice woman, but not a fan of the way she teaches. Doesn't really go over what is in the book and we basically taught ourselves.

She gives LOTS of homework, spend 90% of my time working on what she assigns only to take small breaks to finish other homework assignments. Has time in class to ask questions but does not encourage this by making the material seem like review before asking if anyone has any questions. If you want to teach yourself this is a great class.

There were 3 unit tests and a final exam. By the time I took my final (the last week of the semester), I had yet to receive my grades for my 2nd & 3rd unit tests. It was impossible to know what my grade was going to be. The homework assigned was no help in learning the material. You are on your own and anything in the book is on the test

Horrible class! Took three weeks to get a test grade back. Took the third test the week before the final... so, no grade back on the third test before the final. Professor did not update the course materials for the new book. Tests are tough. Make sure you take initiative to study, study, study - nothing in the book is off limits.

Toscano is very unorganized. Our class took our 3rd exam THE WEEK BEFORE FINALS, because she crammed the last half of the course material into about 2 weeks. Through out entire course, you probably won't have a clue what your grade is. Unfortunately there are no other professors for math 230 currently, so you've got to suffer through it.

Amazing teacher so far! In the beginning I thought it was going to be very hard because she gives A LOT of homework. However, it is relatively easy to handle if your organized. She is good at helping during quizzes and tests and with any questions at all! Love her

Great teacher. She may not seem to be, but she is very approachable and understanding. She does assign a LOT of homework-but if you are just too overwhelmed around midterms and such, TALK TO HER! The first few quizzes were terrible-nearly everyone failed, but it gets better from there, trust me. Her voice is also monotonous and a bit boring.

Worst grading scale ever. The mean on her tests is around a 50-60%. She does not curve at all, so if you are taking this course, know that your GPA is going to take a hit. Assigns homework almost every day, 40-50 problems a night.

can't use calculators? how realistic is this in the 'real world' where i will be applying what i've learned? don't agree with her at all, it is totally unnecessary and time-consuming. wastes time that could be used on finding the answers to problems. otherwise, okay teacher.
