Michael is one of my favorite teachers I took all the CIT minor classes with him (CIS 110, CIS 111, CIS 281). He really wants us to succeed in his class you have projects that have very clear guidelines in the class. Your final and midterms are 35 questions and true/false based for all classes. He is always available to help. LOve him as a teacher!

Hennessy is an actual GEM. I had him for CIS 110, 111, and CIT 281. He is very clear in his teaching style and his project rubrics are easy to follow. Make use of office hours with the GT's because they are super helpful. The midterm/final can be challenging but if you do the extra credit on projects you're chillen. Great teacher.

His is fine. The class is easy as long as you read the material and attend most of the classes. He is kind of boring. Overall it is not a hard class, but you better study fir the midterm and final.

Hennessy makes computer science lectures fun. Projects are simple if you pay attention in lecture, and he often goes over them. Tests are multiple choice and T/F, pretty simple. Good class for science gen ed!

My favorite professor that I've had. Michael H is a funny guy and has a way of making the dry aspects of computer science more interesting. The lectures can sway off topic but he'll make sure you know what you need to know. Project criteria is clear cut, every project builds off the previous one. Have a different CS prof now, and I miss Michael H.

I took CIS 111 years ago, I have taken many computer science classes since then and I felt like I should review Prof Hennessy. His lectures are only confusing because students don't want to wait after class to ask questions so lectures can be 50mins of him answering project questions. He is fair in grading, and is very available outside of class.

Before this class, the only coding experience I had came from editing my old Myspace page. I enjoyed the class. I did OK on the assignments and still passed. The tests were hard but not impossible. Honestly, I barely attended class and still got a B+. Projects can be frustrating but this class is very doable. I thought Michael was a good teacher

Great guy and great professor. I really enjoyed this class and I learned a lot. I was worried about a comp sci prof that would talk down to us and expect us to know everything coming in but Hennessy didnt care what we knew coming in and was always willing to explain things. Would seriously recommend, especially if you need an easy science credit.

Prof. Hennessy's class is graded by a handful of projects and tests Attendance not generally required, but it's heavily recommended. Lectures cover the readings, but Prof. Hennessy really zones in on some points that would definitely be on tests. Project help is bountiful from a class thread posting page and the text is a direct reference point

Hennessy seems like a good guy, but his lectures make zero sense/are super boring. You won't want to attend class (it's optional), but you should. He tends to go over the projects in class and gives detailed examples for tests (KEY because midterm and final make up 70% of final grade). Overall experience in the class really depends on your GTF.

Professor Hennessy is a good professor. I'm in CIS110. His lectures really don't introduce much new material so it's tempting to skip and just do the reading. However, he has always provided us with resources to learn all the required material and is very helpful in office hours. Nice guy too.

His lectures are very unorganized and its almost impossible to take notes from it because he doesn't have slides or a clear course plan. The projects are very vague in instructions and the instructions have many typos, but its nice that he goes over the project requirements in class so you can follow along.

The lectures can be a little boring/dry, but I enjoyed the labs because I had a great GTF and could actually ask questions. If you go to lab hours for an hour or two a week and get help it's pretty easy without prior programming experience. Second half of the class is definitely harder, and take CIS122 instead if you're planning on doing 210 after!

The only reason I got through this class was because I attended as many GTF hours as possible. They had to explain every step to me because Hennessy's lectures were so vague. He never had any slides to show, he would just pull up a coding program and start talking. If you're someone who has no experience in computer science, don't take his class.

Hennessy was horrible. I came on here before this class happy that he had good reviews, but they were wrong. If you don't CIS isn't your specialty he's the worst to take it from. He was so rude & told you to drop the class if you didn't understand rather than helping you. The lectures were confusing & only the GTFs gave any good advice or help.

Michael Hennessy is a great guy. He does a pretty good job at explaining certain concepts, and can even make you chuckle while doing it. Projects were easy, and he explained nearly all of them in class. Lectures tended to be a bit unorganized. Be ready for trivial things to be on the midterms. Also be ready to get a lot of extra credit.

Very unorganized lectures. Pointless tangents. Poor explanation of skills you need for projects. Yeah sure, reading helps, but for those who don't understand coding as naturally as others will have a difficult time. He also has a Smart-Alec attitude, which makes it difficult for students to ask questions or approach him comfortably. Terrible Prof.
