Mr. Dana was a great teacher, Im not huge on Jazz and just took the class for the credits. But he was very interesting and helpful. He made class fun and he grades easy. I got an A in the class and failed 3/5 of the tests. Concert reports, extra credit (easy) and attendance are a must!

Mr. Dana is awesome! He's always excited to teach, especially jazz history. He made class very enjoyable and did not feel hard at all. If you go to class and pay attention, you should have no problem passing with an A. He counts attendance and assigns 3 jazz concert reports, which are not very hard. He's a great teacher and great musician.

Mr. Dana is one of the best professors at FCC. His experience in the music business makes it so that his classes are full of great stories that apply really well to whatever concept you're going over, & he really wants you to pass. Even when I fell behind, I was able to turn things in later for partial credit. He is really amazing.

Mr. Dana is as passionate as they come, instructor wise. While not mandatory, make it a point to come to class and be on time! (Participation points!) Note: He sets you up for success and there is NO reason, NOT to get an A in his course. Read, take notes in class, and do the extra credit. Reading ahead helps connect the dots to lectures. Easy A!

I really liked the Jazz appr. class that Mike Dana teaches. He is a guy that is passionate about jazz and has some great stories to spice up lectures. The hardest part of the class is making sure to go to concerts and writing concert reports. I didn't do two of them but still did fine. Lots of extra credit opportunities!

Mike Dana is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had. If you're interested in music business, not only can he teach you anything that you want to know about it, but he will go out of his way to help you understand it outside of class. It's no wonder this guy was nominated for educator of the year by the Grammy foundation. Awesome guy.

Easy teacher, he goes over what's going to be on the test the class before you take the test. He's also funny as well. You don't have to know anything about Jazz in order to take this class. I didn't know anything about it, but after taking that class, now I know so much about it.

GREAT TEACHER!!!! Just make sure that you always go to class because he bases part of the grade on being there... and that is to make sure that you are there to listen to his lectures. Very informative! Got an A! And I learned a ton about Jazz... I had no real interest in it before but now I actually like a lot of it! :)
