Comment:
Monte is really big on making sure that the tests follow along where the majority of the class is at. He gives you three hours for the tests. You pretty much HAVE to attend class every day and go to as many office hours as possible, otherwise you'll drown quickly.

This is an intro proofs class, which was really hard at first, but Monte did a good job getting us through it. I'm looking forward to taking a class from him in the future.

This professor has a hard time communicating with the students. His expectations are rarely clear. Unfortunately, he is the chair of the Math department, so there is no one to complain to about him and his poor teaching style. I will try my best to not take another course he is teaching.

The best math teacher at U of I. He tries his best to make sure every student in the class understands what is going on. Students actually attend his office hours. Tests make up most of the grade and can be quite difficult. But he usually gives students a second chance to correct their mistakes.

Class is a joke so that math education majors can get a degree without having to do any real math. Hope that you aren't planning on ever pursuing math beyond the undergraduate level, because this class won't help you at all. Monte is the chair of the math department - unfortunately he can get away with whatever he wants.
