Comment:
Professor Nelson made this class an acceptable challenge! Quite a bit of work but most of it was reading comprehension as long as you read through the chapter. The tests were simple and straight to the point no crazy loop holes to get a decent grade. If he marked you down for something he was clear on what you did wrong.

Professor Kofie definitely expects every assignment to not only be turned in, but for you to make an effort in the class. Read every chapter, put thought into your discussion posts, and you will do well in the class. The quizzes are relatively easy if you do the reading, and sometimes they include short response questions.

I had Dr. Kofie for socialogy 1010 during the summer, and I really enjoyed his class, he's that type of teacher that wants you to know everything, regardless if its not in the course agenda. He's really funny too, keeps the class lively( if you pay attention). Grade wise majority of everything is on blackboard and many quizzes and discussion board)

If you want to be belittled and taught by a "know-it-all" then by all means signup for his course. There isnt a subject that he swears he doesn' know already! Arrogant, find it appropriate to talk down to students. We started with 30 -something online students by the time it was over there were only 8 of us left. The rest felt it wasn't worth it.

There are many discussion board assignments. I was in his online class and his personality is rude, dry and the way he speaks to you online, I can only imagine in person. I thought it was me when i would get grades and notes back. I spoke with many classmates which were in my class and they too had the same feeling. Disappointed!

Do not take his class online. Not sure how he is in class, but on the computer he is no help and expects you to just know the work.

I had him for my online honors SOC 1010 class. Participation is a must when answering his discussion board answers through blackboard. The class wasn't hard at all. As long as you read the chapters and take notes, you should be able to pass his quizzes. As an Honors student, we actually had to read a separate book and write a paper on it, not hard

Great Professor! Actually engages you in meaningful and knowledgeable conversation about the topic. Expect to be challenged, he expects his students to care enough to do their best. If you aren't ready for constructive criticism of your work, don't take his class, but if you are, you will leave his class fulfilled and a better person.

The fellow who posted earlier is STUPID to think that Community College is not a College. Most my NOVA profs including this guy have PhDs. Were there not CC in VA where you would be going school? He has no tolerance of cry babies. If you want rigor, take this guy. He is helpful to serious students.

I don't know why this guy is still teaching, he needs to be fired! He is extremely rude online and in person and that is probably why he teaches at a CC (PG of course) instead of a 4 year establishment- They do not want him. Please do not believe the good comments about this guy- Whoever thinks he is funny is probably a jerk___ as well.

This guy is very arrogant and condescending. He isn't clear with what he wants as far as assignments go, and If you even ask him a question he'll try to belittle you for even asking. He's also very opinionated. If you think you can put up with his attitude then yeah, go for it. Otherwise, don't take him.

His use of Blackboard in a F2F course saved me. Got a new job just when the course started. But with all the course work in Blackboard, I was able to read the textbook, and do all the assignments at home, and care for my babies. Returned my e-mail quickly and helped me through the course. He must live in Blackboard 24/7. Taking him again.

Funny as hell. He kept the class awake and cracking up at the 8 am class. Lazy students need not take him. He has no tolerance for them. He give out study sheet of what to know for the exam--no trick here.
