I love Van Fleet! He is really helpful in 240 and also outside of the classroom (I decided to have him as my advisor after taking 240). He's very helpful and does not talk down to you if you don't understand the material or if you think you know the material. Definitely recommend taking him. Workload is heavy but very helpful.

By far the best math professor that I have had here. He makes it easy to pay attention in class, and also keeps you participating. As long as you don't use your phone in class, you'll be fine. (then you bring treats) Very good at explaining things, and also makes sure you understand what is going on before he moves on. Take him if you can

I dont really understand all the comments on here about his "fair" grading technique. In my experience his partial credit deductions are irrational and excessive, and they certainly add up fast on a 75 point, 11 question exam!!

Van Fleet is a great guy who really knows his mathematics. I would highly recommend him for any math course, he will teach you everything you need to know. Tests are definitely tough and proofs get pretty rigorous but if you stay up to date on HW the class isn't too bad.

IDK how his ratings are so high, his methods of 'teaching' proofs are incomprehensible at best. Rather than showing a proof he asks the 2 smart kids in class for ideas, then briefly explains what they said. He shows up to class late and keeps you late every day. The only bright spot is the extremely easy tests and the even slower pace of the class

Van Fleet is a great professor. He is super smart and explains the info very well. His tests are easy, but usually contain a couple tricky parts. If you study hard, these tricky parts won't be a problem. Study hard and you will be guaranteed an A. Overall, very cool and relaxed teacher. A+++

He comes to class prepared and his lectures are super understandable. His tests are really easy if you pay attention and do the homework. Homework is tricky but super helpful. End of semester project is really cool so don't just blow it off. He brings his lil girl to class sometimes and she laughs when you make a joke but doesn't interrupt at all.

Van Fleet is an awesome dude, he is really good at explaining the material and grades fairly generously. The majority of the quizzes are take home which is nice and the tests are not difficult. I would recommend him to anyone!

Very clear and helpful. Lectures are informative and planned well. Tests can be hard, but it is Calc3. Know the material and you'll do well. I got a C- from not doing any labs, so do your labs. He explains labs and mathematica well.
