Simple, clear and vivid! Saved my soul! I have taught many English literature classes at local universities and I walk into each class and with silence I still on top my desk.... 15 minutes pass the I let them have it : Simple. Clear. Vivid.

Comment:

While I was a fairly strong writer coming into the course, Sean taught me to write clearer and simpler. He has a definite passion for the subject matter and is a wealth of knowledge. Always go see him for extra help! He's a tough grader, but at the end of the day, he wants to help. He is all bark and no bite. I recommend him to all English majors.

Comment:

This class focuses on terms,periods of English literature,and analytical techniques. Aside from a few sporadic poems, you will not read much literature. The material is extremely useful; I recommend it to any English major.Shesgreen is an amazing professor: funny,caring,and knowledgeable. He needs to teach 474 so I can have him as a teacher agian.

Shesgreen grades pretty harshly without the chance to revise for a better grade, so I wouldn't recommend if you're not a very confident writer, but I don't think he's as tough as he's made out to be. He's not always the most approachable but he's a really engaging professor, the class was interesting and his expectations are clear enough.

Professor Shesgreen is without a doubt very qualified and knowledgeable. However, he takes his ENGL 200 class too seriously. By its very nature it is an introduction, yet he is probably one of the toughest paper and exam graders at NIU. Be prepared to suffer some harsh criticism. If you are struggling, see him during his office hours.

Prof. Shesgreen is not a bad teacher! He challenges you to a level of English you never thought possible. He makes you a better writer by challenging you to your breaking point. If you don't want to be challenged, why take any classes? Yes he's hard, but in the end, IT'S WORTH IT. Take his class, and go see him even if you don't think you need help

Shesgreen is an awful professor. DO NOT TAKE HIM. His expectations are unclear, and his grading style is absurd. I am an ENG student who was recommended into the honors program, yet my grades in his class are satisfactory at best. Avoid at all costs

Prof. Shesgreen is an amazing teacher. He creates a learning environment where anyone who tries can succeed. He is demanding and will scare the crap out of you at times, but you will not learn more anywhere else. Getting an A in his class is hard, but it's possible. Do the reading and participate in discussion and you'll be fine.

I have Professor Shesgreen for two classes one being English 474 The International Short Story. He comes from many different countries in both heritage and marriage. He is exactly who you want teaching a class about international authors and story types. Besides the fact he is brilliant and challenging. I recommend this class to English majors.
