Hansen overall was a good teacher. She knew what she was talking about, and her grading wasn't too bad. I took the class during the summer, when I was going to become a junior in high school and I passed it with the highest grade in the class.

She is a good instructor, and knows the topic very well. She is very straight forward. She is above and beyond arrogant, rude, and sometimes borderline disrespectful, if it weren't for that her class would be great. If you want to learn english this is the class to take. I enjoyed the class and structure, but the rudeness everyday is a bit much

The teacher has a HIGH expectations. I need to spend plently of time in her class, she will remember the good & bad one...would not recommend. There are better teachers out there.

Very strict and precise. Will not cut you any slack. Learn how to format MLA to perfection. I found the essays to be fairly straight forward, but they did take sometime to write. There is a fair amount of quizzes, reading, short response questions, and other stuff, so basically a lot of work. Shes alright, but there are easier teachers.

Shawn expects you to do your work, but not more than you should be able to do. This is a COLLEGE english class, not grade school. Her assignment sheets are precise and she follows them to the "T." She does not allow slacking, nor does she "baby" you. I would HIGHLY recommend her.

Make sure you know how to write above the 300 level before taking this class, because she will not teach you.The course describes,"this writing course emphasizes reading, writing..". She focus only on the reading and not the writing. For people who wants to learn how to "WRITE at a 300 level" this is not for you.For people who love to read, sign up.

There's a bit of piling of assignments onto one another and she requires that you put a lot of work into the class outside of it. Probably expect the temptation to drop, as it seems to be common. She says that three absences will automatically drop you (probably for first half of classes mainly). In this class you are well-informed of your grade.

There's no doubt that being in this class has improved my writing greatly. It's actually amusing to watch the size of the class dwindle because the students aren't competent enough to deal with the "rigors of this course." Buying the books is a must. From my experience, this professor lets students out early a lot and has missed about 5 sessions.

If you plan on taking this class, you better be prepared. She's pretty tough. However, her help is so amazing! She really does want to see you succeed, so I encourage all of you to take her if you want a challenge and if you want to know more about writing, writing the correct way!

Don't take this class if you want an easy ride. She pushes you to do your best, and for some reason I found myself really seeking her approval. She is extermely clear about what she expects, and gives great feedback.

What a bunch of whiners! This teacher is really cool and interesting, but a lot of the students in my class were super lazy. For one of the rough draft workshops, only about 8 of the 20 people had papers--how is that the teacher's fault? The class wasn't that hard, but it did require effort. I learned a ton, and my writing is much better.

I agree she's a hard teacher, but I've learned a lot. I pretty much hate English, but I started getting better grades on my papers in my other classes after four or five weeks of her making us do stuff. She isn't a teacher that will let you blow off assignments. She grades hard but she goes over stuff real well and drops low scores.

Her class consists of quizzes, online reading responses(mini-essays) and six huge essays. She is a very STRICT grader on essays. Any moderate error(s) in an essay written for her class will literally kill that paper's grade. She expects a lot from you. You could try your best for this class and still fail. You can find a better teacher.

She is really hard teacher. It's really hard to pass her class!Students mostly have to do on the own.She doesn't explain a lot! You must do a lot of work and still not get a good grade. On the exam a lot of students fail.So I don't advice to take her as ENG40 teacher! You can find a better one!!

If you want the easy way out this is not it. If you want to struggle then this is the class to be in. when asking for assistance on hw, her response would be,"if you did your assignments you shouldn't have a problem".She say she "teaches to inspire", if you had her already you will notice that it is very untrue.

Very knowledgable and has a twisted sense of humor. She is VERY strict, however, and does not play around. Not precisely following her instructions or advice on tests or essays will screw you over so never miss class. But, if you apply yourself you will really learn alot. After taking this class any other writing assignment will be a piece of cake.

Shawn’s tough and expects a lot, but she makes things clear and pushes you to improve. English isn’t my thing, but I got into the discussions and actually had stuff to say when I wrote papers. As for being mean or arrogant, I don’t agree. If you’re in school just to get by, take someone else, but if you want to learn something, take her class.
