Dr. Rillings was a great professor. I wish I had taken him for 101, but I only took him for 102. Expect Mastering Chemistry homework frequently, quizzes (11 or 12 per semester), written homework, three exams, and a final exam. It sounds like a lot, but it helps you learn the course material well. He was awesome!

Dr. Rillings is awesome! I wish that I had him for CHEM 101, which I struggled in severely. Expect homework, quizzes and you MUST do the Mastering Chem. He states what he expects from everyone and keeps things clear as to when they are do. Make sure you go to class and take plenty of notes and you should do great!

Rillings was super funny, which helped keep it interesting, especially at 8 AM. Make sure you do mastering chem, even though it sucks. The homework and quizzes help prep for tests a lot. Only uses a chalkboard for notes and you can't use laptops in class. So, bring paper. His thoughts are scattered sometimes, so print textbook powerpoints.

Professor Rillings was a great professor. He kept class interesting without going off subject. He prepares you very well for the exams if you do the homework, quizzes and masteringchem you will do fine. I highly recommend him.

He speaks fairly quietly, but this isn't a problem if you pay attention. He will drop you from the class if you do not do the MasteringChem. Both sets of HW are easy and similar to test questions. He is a good teacher and likes to tell stories. Quizzes are fairly regular, easy and always announced ahead of time. Tests are not as easy as quizzes.

I really liked this guy. Sometimes his lectures were boring but then sometimes he made them interesting with all the stories he told. Pay attention in class and you'll do fine. Especially do all your homework, he was always getting on people because of that. Something else I liked about him was how he always helped anyone who had questions.

Has many great stories. Nice guy and teaches the subject well. Attendance is mandatory but if you know someone in the class to pick up your hw or quiz then you don't have to go. He does expect you to keep up with Mastering Chem and not do it the night before it's due.

basically you go to class and he drones on for an hour or so. He's an alright teacher. He gives you all the material you need to do well on the test. emphasizes hw a lot. it helps to do that. it's hard to not fall asleep. he tends to talk to the blackboard and block what he writes. sometimes hard to follow. not my favorite

Chemistry is not my best friend, but I am doing better at chemistry this semester than last. He gives 12 quizzes throughout the semester, but if you ask him for help he will halfway do the question for you. He gets confused sometimes when working out problems but overall he is a good professor and his stories will wake you up.

He somehow relates CHEM to WWII and the various wars where chemists developed products that decided the victor. Keeps the class interesting. Honestly, just do the HW, and you will get an A, easily.

Dr. Rillings is a very experienced teacher. He has a lot of experience in his field and knows what he is talking about. He is also a cool guy. He's not so uptight and rather laid back. We had our funny moments in Chem this year (too long to explain in here). The class is interesting because he will tell you not only what happens, but why it happens

Dr. Rillings is a really good teacher. His class if really easy to make an A if you do two things. 1) The MasteringChemistry and 2) The Homework questions that are emailed to you. The homework questions are basically the test. If you can do all those, then you can easily make an A on the test. Also, if you need help with them, just see him.

had him for chem 101, gives quizzes every other class and since they only have 4 or 5 questions on them I failed nearly every single one. I learned more from the book than the actual lectures. Gives online assignments every 1-2 weeks. doesn't take attendance but if you aren't there for a quiz you get a 0. I would not recommend him.

Rillings is a good professor. He cares about the material and cares that you do well. Just go to class every day, read the chapters before he goes over them and do the optional homework assignments. Chemistry is a hard class and Kenny Rillings makes it more bearable.
