Professor Akaka really knows guitar and music in general. She is helpful, kind, and very very patient. I have taken guitar classes before, but I feel I have learned more from her one class than any of the others combined. I definitely recommend this class. Lots of fun!

Patience is all about Akaka. She is rather slow but she is very helpful. Even though sometimes her organization of class time and assignment due date are messed up, she made something up for students. She has a good musical sense and you learned a lot from her if you listen to her carefully and follow her advices.

This class is lots of freedom. She doesn't have strict guidelines on assigment due dates. You don't have to be a skill musician, you'll do fine if your work shows effort. But don't underestimate the class. It's as easy to get a 4.O as to fail it. THe best thing is she allows your free interpretation of the music and give helpful advice IF you ask.

I enjoyed the class. I received a 4.0 without unusual effort being required. I am still playing the tunes I learned 3 months later and have been moved to get my piano tuned.

Nice teacher, relatively easy. She is very unorganized which caused a bit of frustration at times. She changed assignments the day they were due, even the midterm. You are clueless of your grade until you get your transcript. She's easily pleased with the final, which, should take off some stress to those who aren't exactly musically talented.

She was an okay teacher and back in highschool i had her as a substitute more than once. UNfortunately she wasnt too clear about what she wanted at times, but she did know what she was talking about.
