Timothy Kolosick nearly extinguished my passion for music. His lectures were characterized by constant name dropping and self promotion. He was unclear often and boring. He said some terribly hurtful things to me personally and by the time I was done with his course I no longer wanted to be a musician. Luckily I found my way back to music.

A difficult but entertaining. Prior music theory a must. His "Gloria" and "Erlkonig" lectures are the stuff of legends (during these lectures former students sat in just to hear the lectures again - an amazing complement). 22 years have pased since I sat in his class, and I still remember his lectures vividly. You must do the ear training labs!

This class is a joke. Nice guy, but the first 8- or 9-weeks were a complete waste of time. Lectures often covered material used in later weeks, and his jokes got on my nerves. This class could be alright, but it all depends on who's in your discussion groups. Most of the theory covered is useless, as it's only applicable to archaic forms.

1) he's the only theory teacher 2) it's not Kolosick who you have the most contact with, but the TA's. It's a fun class, but it moves fast. You shouldn't come into this class as a beginner to Theory. Take MUS 101 or 119 if you have no theory background.

He's a great professor and goes out of his way to try to work with students. His singing is awful on purpose, but he gives some brilliant lectures - such as the Erlkonig lecture.

Granted, I took this class from him almost 10 years ago, but he was GREAT! His singing is bad ON PURPOSE ("fa mi"), and his lectures were very relevant and easy to follow (not to mention usually entertaining).

This guy has a god complex, forgets which week you're in, and will teach you the wrong material, in addition to vague lectures. Don't expect a lot of clarity from him. His singing is attrocious aswell. Avoid if you can.
