Broitman is an awesome dude. "Knowledge is power!" Excellent lecturer, he's hilarious and has cool ways of relating things to real life. He can be a little repetitive, but that's great because it beats the information into your brain. Very helpful in office hours.

Dr. Broitman was a great professor. You will hate the class, and probably him, if you don't keep on top of the lecture notes though. There are only 3 exams, and all of the material builds, so last minute cramming won't work. He loves the subject and is actually funny in class. Meeting with him during office hours is a huge help!

He is an inspiration. I had him for bio220 and bio431. He has helped teach me how to think properly about science and the world. Anyone that does not like him is misguided, because he is as good as it gets. His lectures/exams aren't too challenging because he expects us to take initiative and challenge ourselves.

Dr. Broitman is the coolest. The class is fast-paced but he explains the material EXTREMELY well. He tends to repeat himself in Cell Phys quite often but this is good, as it forces you to retain the material. By far my favorite professor.

The lectures tend to get boring. This class is great for people who love memorization. Just memorize everything for tests. This class is not very time consuming.

Taking him for molecular genetics, he speaks way too fast for any notetaking. would recommend recording an audio however sometimes he doesnt speak too clearly. not too helpful if you ask for extra help. tells us he recommends the book then later in the year suggests that the two texts are worthless compared to his lec notes where he makes his test.

I never had Broitman for Cell Phys, but he was great for Molecular Genetics!!! I think many students in Cell Phys who can't grasp the material and get frustrated with the rigor of the material and tests simply blame it on his teaching. Once you get to know him, he is a funny guy and will help those who are serious and ask for help.

He talks wayyy to fast. I swear if you replaced the entire class with dummies he wouldnt even notice. The information isnt as complicated as he makes it. He often repeats himself and says the wrong thing. You almost HAVE to have a laptop to be able to keep up.

Broitman is lame. He will never come down to a student level and be understanding. His tests are so tricky and when I went to see him about a test, I told him about a question that was tricky. He stood up, threw his hands up and said "I disagree with you, YOUR WRONG" ... Class is tough...Study everything possible and know it all!

He's actually a really good prof. The tests can be hard, but you just need to know the stuff inside and out. Go to his office hours to review the tests, its a big help for the final.

exams are impossible and very specific. he wants you to know the minute details and not just the whole picture which makes this a hard 200 level class.

Tests werent all that terrible. Read the book for clarifications. Do his labs exactly as he says to and youll do great on all of them, which will boost your average if exams trip you up. He can be a bit of a jerk, but i just avoided asking him anything.

Kind of an intimidating man, though obviously very smart. Very fascinating content, really stimulated me to think. It's really important to stay ontop of the material, otherwise you'll be swamped.

His lecture jumps around, like he's one of those that knows his topic so well and he thinks you can keep up. His lab is very interesting. Fun, but challenging. His test questions are very weird and challenging. Try not to stare at the ponytail and funky belt!

He talks in detail about complex topics, but he makes an effort to be sure you know it. It's a 400 level class and thus is hard, but I got an A on the first test after having Intro Genetics with a temp. prof. who couldn't teach at all. He definitely cleared up confusion left behind by that prof.

Dr. Broitman is THE WORST GRADUATE ADVISOR. His favorite saying is "I prefer foreign students." If you are a blonde American female be prepared to be treated like trash. He gave another student credit for my research. This caused problems in getting my master's degree which caused me to have to drop out of a PhD program... ruining my life...
