Comment:
I liked Dr. Iyer as a person, but as a prof, he was not my style. Office help is not his strong suit. Also, there was a question on the exam I got 10 out of 10 on, but when he explained it to the rest of the class after the test, even I had no idea what he was talking about. His notes are vague and sparse. Very unclear lecture content.

Awful lab instructor. Bad attitude, bad temper, extremely rushed, makes students feel stupid for asking questions. Gives easy marks on assignments but does not give detailed feedback.

Comment:
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! Poor lectures/notes - not very helpful. Rude - often implied that students were stupid/lazy.Tested material that wasn't relevant. Poor organization - ran out of time to cover ~ 1/3 of the course material. Going to him for help was basically pointless. Only positive thing was that he posted review/summary note before a midterm

Comment:
Hard to figure out what was important and what wasn't. Seemingly unimportant information could easily turn up on a midterm. Not all course information seemed extremely relevant. Readings and class notes could sometimes contradict each other, and always seemed to contradict information on the internet. Helpful, if you ask.

The worst teacher I have ever had. Almost no correlation between class material and midterm questions. Very rude and irritable man. Marks are taken away for what you have said wrong, rather than what you have said right. Very egotistical and arrogant person with very little people skills. I'm amazed he's still teaching.

Had Iyer for most of my undergrad and he's definitely nicer now. He actually interacts with students instead of yelling for their notebook.

He is so nice and helpful. You just have to make sure to approach him after class for help. Always helps with your lab reports if you genuinely made an effort. AND YOU CAN FULLY UNDERSTAND HIM.

Worst Prof. Ever! When you want to find him for help, he is not in his office. He is tough on his student too. The TA aloud us to hand in our reports 2 weeks after the lab, but if you ask him when it's due, he expects you to hand in the report to the TA one week after the lab.

All I want to say about this guy is that the chem 201 manuals are POORLY written by him. Therefore, what he expects of reports is EXTREMELY UNCLEAR. Thanks to Iyer, much of your 2nd year study time is wasted in figuring out what you need to include in your reports. Lucky that I got a very nice TA.You don't need him to do well in the lab, just TA

Really good prof.Structured course really well, taught effectively in class. Has a strong accent, but quite entertaining once you get used to him.Looks grumpy but is not. Also gives fair exams and marks fairly. This class was one of the best of the year.
