Comment:

Alan Parks is so caring and you can really tell he loves what he does. Unfortunately, he is not very good at explaining concepts in a way that are easy to understand. Be prepared to teach yourself from the textbook. But he is always in his office and is a HUGE help when you're stuck. I went literally every week. He's also the most adorable man.

Parks clearly explains what he expects from problem sets and if you pay attention during lecture, take notes, use your notes when you're confused on a homework problem, and then see him when you're confused still, you're bound to succeed. He's a lifesaver during office hours. Struggled with volume for hours, cleared it up in 5 minutes.

Stay away. Terrible teacher who should not teach. Class lectures horribly organized. What he says & advice he gives during & outside of class half-assed & non-sensical at times. When I asked him for help, he never gave me clear instruction & expected I knew how to approach given problems; there were times when he would find lame excuses to not help

He is easy but that's because he is extremely helpful, or so i've heard, i never went in for help since he writes his own books and thus studying those will get you into his mind if you just do it long enough. could be a little bit more clear and write more on the board.

Lectures are hard to pay attention to. His notes are very poorly written and organized. His textbooks are also a nightmare to get through. However, he works wonders in one-on-one officer hours sessions. Very kind and generous. Approachable and friendly.

Professor Parks was an absolutely amazing teacher. He truly has a passion for math and loves to teach. He is willing to spend hours helping you in his office whenever you need. All you have to do is knock and he would be there for you answering any questions you had. Great attitude and truly supports his students. I loved him.

There were a lot of loose ends at the end of the course. We didn't make the connection between many of the concepts and definitely didn't do enough proofs. There is only so much we could do in 10 weeks, but I still feel we could have done more.
