Basically this entire class was watching movies and writing if they were good or not. which i dont understand because why is an english grade based on how well we can rate a movie.....? the entire semester there was only 2 assignments ( 1 essay for each movie)

DO NOT TAKE!Seriously just save yourself the trouble. Unclear instructions and just painful lectures all together. There are 2 essays, 1 annotated bibliography, and 1 final research paper. She doesnt keep track of things, lost my paper, and then continued to give me the wrong grade for it. You can get an A, I did do it. But awful teacher in general

We watched 4 movies and wrote two mandatory essays, the other two we could of if we did poorly on the previous ones. She does talk a lot, repeats herself a lot, and sometimes goes off on tangents. Sometimes she is not the most on top of things but she means well and is understanding in every situation (personally). No final, easy A, just show up.

An intelligent lady with a vibrant personality and fine sense of humor, she often makes interesting asides. Her class is never dull. She also does a good job going over the material in a way that helps prepare students for the essays. I can tell she put plenty of thought into the most effective and interesting way to get across her material.

I wasted my money taking this class. The professor isnt clear on instructions for what she wants the papers to be about. She gives you a small paragraph and expects you to write a 3 to 4 page essay based on that small paragraph. Her instructions for essays are not consistent. Her instructions constantly change, leaving everyone confused.

I took Morriss' 101 English and got 100% on all of my papers. I took Rutland's 102 class, do not take this class. She doesn't sense, and she constantly changes the criteria for papers. I have a C and the only comments made on my papers are "confusing w.c.". When asking a question she makes you feel like an idiot, then she doesn't even answer it.

In ENG 101 was kind funny and very helpful, understood my disabilities and was willing work with me on them. In her 102 denied my 504 accommodations after recognizing me from the pervious semester, told me to "get torturing" and sent me out of her class when asked for help. Was failed for having incomplete ideas in a paper a seeking help on.

This teacher never know what's going on in the class or what class it even is, all the time. Doesn't know what she ok's so you might get marked off when you turn a paper in. Picks and chooses who can use certain vocabulary based on who they are. Very confusing feedback. You will watch stupid movies all day, without any, ANY teaching. Disappointing.

Loved this class! She truly knows her stuff and makes class enjoyable with her sense of humor. Watched movies, wrote a couple of essays. She allows you to write a third essay and drops your lowest grade. She is fair in her grading and attentive. I will definitely be taking her again. We need more teachers like her! Dont listen to the whiners.

I took her ENG 101 class over the summer, so we only had to do 2 essays. A third is available to do however and shed drop your lowest grade one. I was an ok writer going in, but i did Ok. Your graded on only papers, take home test and class participation.

Show up&listen, you will receive the A. Very clear on what she's asking for. Those who are absent/on their phone/zoned out can't agree. She is an amazing teacher that loves what she does. Effort is EVERYTHING! I took her for ENG101, too. Great teacher. Her humor is a bonus. I truly wish I could take her again. P.S. CHEAP BOOKS EVERY TIME

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! I spent weeks working on my final paper and had several peers read and revise it, she read the first 2 pages of 10 and decided that the paper deserved an F with no explanation. I emailed her and reached out to her several times for help but she never was willing to help. When we did meet up she was condescending and rude.

I made sure to Ms. Rutland for english 102, she is a great teacher. She understands her students have other classes and is really flexible. But don't slack on essays, the whole grade depends on those essays.

You need to attend the lectures at the beginning of the semester, she gives out a lot of really good information on what exactly she wants in your papers. It's not very clear in the paper materials she hands out, so getting the information from the lecture was crucial. I learned a lot from her. There are a lot of "working" classes that are not req.

Mrs. Rutland is absolutely amazing! I took Eng 101 and 102 with her and if I had another English class to take it would be her as my teacher. She is very down to earth and makes it fun. If you love to watch movies take her 101 class. Her 102 class is no joke though, she really means business in that class.
