Comment:
Pretty average professor, but if you are confused and ask a question he makes sure you understand before moving on. Takes awhile to warm up to him, but he's a good guy and can be pretty entertaining. Tests are almost identical to homework/review questions and he drops the your lowest grade between 3 tests and recitation quizzes.

Math is difficult, especially abstract mathematics. It is not for everyone and not everyone is equipped for taking 311. It is abstract and incredibly difficult. BUT, if youre willing to work you WILL do well. Dr. Sikora is beyond accessible, responds quickly to emails, and is there for help IF YOU PUT IN THE WORK. I spent 10+ hours a week studyin

He tries his best to teach complex topics. He is not good at breaking down difficult topics, but he is good at working with you through tough problems. It's a difficult class and you need to put work in, and he is very willing to help.

He is a very disorganized teacher and cannot explain the material well. Read the textbook and you should be fine for his class. I didn't go to his class during the second half of the semester and still received an A. Remember to give yourself time to do the homework and go to recitation. My recitation teacher game me quizzes every week.

He's as good a choice as any. The guy knows his stuff but students think otherwise because he's disorganized in class. He drops one test (or your quiz total), and all his exams are well within the homework territory. As long as you do your homework yourself you should be fine.

Nice guy. Class is him doing practice problems from the tb. HW is through webassign. Tests mimic the tb/hw. Curved all of the tests. The curve is something like score*1.15 + 15. 1 test is dropped! 91 guarantees an A. Very easy if you're good at Math. I never went to class and got an A. Don't if you're bad at math, curve benefits the top.

Very good professor. The material in the course is very abstract and the recommended 10 hours a week is accurate if you really want to understand what it is you're doing. He gives you a really clear idea what is going to be on the tests and what is expected for assignments. The class is HARD, but it has nothing to do with the way he teaches it.

He is a good mathematician, but it's really hard to follow what he is trying to say. He can't understand your questions at all, so basically u will use your book a lot. I knew the material, but i definitely learnt something new too. Overall I liked this guy, despite his flaws.

Dr. Sikora does not know how to teach Calculus. I have already taken Calculus in high school and the credit would not transfer to UB. He will not accept on tests the way the book explains or another equally right way. His lectures are repetitions of the reading and he is completely unorganized and hard to follow.

The biggest problem about him is that he does not give solutions to his HWs. This along with the fact that the TA's dont grade all the hws results in you only getting about a third of the answers to the home works. There just aren't enough examples in his notes to make up for this.

None of the upper level UB Math professors are going to hold your hand. Dr. Sikora is a great guy and a decent professor. Be sure to put effort in on the homework as it is a good part of your grade. Tests are fair and you'll do well if you understand the homework

Dr. Sikora is a great guy and a pretty good professor. During office hours he walks you through problems and answers all questions that you may have. He is always willing to help out as long as you show interest and are not just trying to get the answers from him. He is a very fair teacher and makes you want to learn more about mathematics.!

He doesn't understand you as much as you don't understand him. Everything is "obvious" to him when the reality of the matter is that nobody understands. Nevertheless, the tests are pretty much identical to the homework. If you put the time in to get the right answers to the homework, you will do well.

I was nervous about having him b/c of negative comments from students. But he's actually a fair professor, being if you want to pass his class you won't be trick with materials outside of the class. He'll tell you what's on the exam. He's clear when explaining anything you don't understand. AWESOME PROOFS PROFESSOR EVER!!!

Brilliant theoretical math professor, but can't really teach lower level math. His accent makes following already shaky lectures very difficult. Asking questions is pointless, he doesn't understand you any better than you understand him. If you already know calculus or read the book, you can scratch by.

He is really all over the place in lecture. However, his homework and exams are fair. He often gives extra points on exams because he wants the exam average to be about 80. His exam questions are very similar to the homework questions he assigned.

Not a bad professor. Explains material well. Does make mistakes often but ends up correcting them. HW is 20 questions a week online, not difficult. Tests aren't bad, and he's a generous grader. Has an accent but is very easy to understand. Very nice person and very laid back. Would recommend.
