Alan is one of the best professors I had at Ambrose. If you do the work and show that you have an interest in the subject he will give you an A. Also if you write the papers showing that you thought about the subject. Pay attention to what he says because it can be on the test.

Comment:

Professor Sivell seems like he is an old school archetype teacher and journalist. He is knowledgeable about what it takes to be a journalist. He is easy going and uses humor well. Having spent time with him in multiple setting, it’s become clear that he is a vital fixture to St. Ambrose University Communication Department.

Comment:

Sivell is a boss. He's funny and keeps things loose. His requirements and expectations for speeches are pretty realistic. Recognizes it's an intro class and treats it as one. He doesn't expect a perfect speech, so don't feel pressured. He looks for students to make progress throughout the semester. If at all possible, take Mr. Sivell!

Alan always made things entertaining. Mass Comm subjects can be boring, but you would never know it through his lectures. Plus, if you work on the school paper, you could always get away with being a bit "late" on some of the classwork.
