Comment:
Ludman is a great professor that cares a lot about his students who actually show up. He does concept reviews during each lecture that counts towards attendance and your grade. Also if you don't go to class, there is not a high chance of passing. It is very important to be there and hear what he's teaching. It really helps on exams.

This man is the absolute worst teacher I have ever had. while he cares about all of his students and tries to be personal with all of them, the tests are so unbelievably difficult with no curve and no extra credit. I show up to class everyday, (where we have daily quizzes) and pay attention all the time yet still do not understand the material.

Ludman is a good teacher that is approachable & nice. His lectures are clear &concise, especially if you pay attention. They are also online. He gives concept reviews at the end of each lecture which combine with online quizzes based on the textbook. Ludman also has 2 review sessions before each test so there's really no reason to pass easily.

They like to emphasize in the syllabus that the course is designed for both 'majors and nonmajors', but that's a complete lie. You definitely need to be a science major or at least have a genuine interest in the subject to endure this class. Don't be fooled- the fact that this is a 101 means nothing. it is a TON of work.

Despite the reviews, this class is easy. This is like ENSCI-lite. Diet GEOL 101. Could not be more watered down without making it a DOE earth science course for 8th graders. An online midterm is basically a God-given A. Andy Dwyer could take this course and pass. Bruh. I was watching Parks and Rec while taking the midterm. Easy A for nonmajors.

Allan Ludman is an absolutely brilliant professor! That being said, his class is the farthest thing from easy. Do not be deceived by this 'intro' level class because it is the farthest thing from that. He is a very caring yet demanding professor who truly cares about what he does. I'd suggest taking the class with another professor...

He knows his stuff, but there's a ton of material that you have to study hard for to do well in. Showing up/paying attention is also important because you have to hand in these little "concept reviews" after every class. Okay professor, but not an easy class.

He's very knowledgeable in the course, clearly a professional in the field, and expects you to get to the level of a Geol major, even if you are a non major. Don't miss class if you can, cause the material is heavy, and everyday there are concept reviews, which are apart of your grade. Weekly quizzes, and the exams are not a cake walk either.

If you want to take a science course for credit, I advise you to skip this course. The tests that he gives are insanely hard, from the friends I've made 3 of which had a 3.9 gpa and barely managed to get a b-, or a b in this course. Nice man, but when its your grades that matter, take something else..

Professor Ludman is a great man. He's so understanding and tries to work with you so that you get the material. The course is a lot more difficult than I expected for a 99 level class. The questions on tests were worded a little confusingly. There were weekly quizzes. It really helped that the powerpoints were online. Study those and you'll be ok.

Lil Luddy where do I start. The class is a 99 lvl course and i was over here struggling like I've never struggled before. The lectures were easy but the tests on the other hand were too complicated for the course lvl. Lab was a trip every week, I just hope I get a decent grade.

Incredibly demanding for a 100 level course. Should add "not intended for nonmajors" to the course description. Exams are incredibly difficult but if even one person is able to succeed, then he believes that everyone should be able to replicate that. No curve. Wants very specific responses to his questions. Nice guy but would not recommend.

This professor makes it so hard for nonmajors to pass. He should appreciate the fact that we chose his class and wasn't forced into taking him like the geol majors were. he doesn't care if u pass or fail as long as 1 person gets an A. only cares about the future geologists
