Her reading assignments are so awful- out of an entire class I only enjoyed/learned from about 2 reading assignments. She is extremely unhelpful at office hours and during discussion is seems like shes never thought about the points we bring up. I will say she is a fair grader and gives good feedback on papers.

Heed what others have written - she is nice and smart, but that almost makes it worse, because as a professor, she's so bad. I walked out of class almost every day wondering what I had learned and realized it was next to nothing. Group projects teach nothing, discussions are meaningless, grading is random. Don't take w her unless you have no choice

Katanski is a nice person and clearly interested in her subjects (and she has classes on great topics), but she's unable to hold meaningful class discussion. They're long and all over the place, and she doesn't offer direction in discussion or for homework readings. Directions on assignments can be confusing as well. Unhelpful out of class.

Class discussions were not stimulating. 4-5 people ended up withdrawing 8th week (I suspect from boredom). She was very unhelpful outside the class room. Cancelled our first meeting when I showed up for it (!?), arrived at our rescheduled meeting 20 minutes (no joke) late with no apology or explanation, just a silent death march to her office.

Amelia introduced me to the world of Native American literature and laws. I am in law school studying Indian Law because of her. Very easy to talk to, makes you work hard to get that A- instead of a B+

Amelia ROCKS! She has a real passion for her subject. She is approachable and always willing to go out of her way to help. Doing my SIP with her was a real joy! Everyone should take at least one class with Amelia!

An above average prof in a stellar dept, Amelia sometimes gets shuffled to the bottom of people's lists. I was wary about doing my SIP with her, but she was incredibly supportive and full of feedback to make my SIP easier and better.
