Prof. Sum clarified most of my entire education in economics in one quarter. He puts a lot of effort and experience into his lectures. Among the best.

Took him for Economics in Poverty and Inequality. One of the best professors at NEU by far, a very interesting class. Every concept in class relates to real life and he keeps us up to date with the current economic affairs. He gives a lot of extra credits, exams are essay-based. One H/W, one midterm, one final.

The best Prof ever! He is my role model! Lot's of interesting handouts, real life examples and exercises. If you want to learn a lot about Labor Economics, application of econometric models, research and policy analysis, then take his class. He has a great personality too. I think everyone in our class loved him!

Really nice professor and very knowledgeable. However, lectures can get very dry and he tends to ramble. Be sure to go to him for help and if he knows you actually care then you will do just fine.

I dont remember the class numbers; but I have taken Poverty and Income Inequality, Human capital, and I did a directed study with Sum. He knows what he is talking about. I even worked for him in the Center for Labopr Market Studies; this is how he knows what he is talking about: He does the research to look for the story behind the numebrs.

Professor Sum is a very knowledgeable man. He knows a lot about the macroeconomy but sometimes speaks very quickly about concepts which a lot of students do not understand. If you do the three homeworks for the course (which are not hard) and all of the extra credits (which are also not hard) you should get an A.

Sum seems to teach a very difficult class, but if you show up almost every day (even though attendance is not taken) you should pick up enough of the material to do well in the course. If you obviously put forth effort and at least try and do the work, Sum will make sure you do well. He knows his stuff really well, so ask him questions.

Very motivated and knows EVERYTHING about Economics. This guy knows his stuff and may seem to go a little fast, but if you show interest and are on top of your stuff he will make sure you do well. Gives out lots of Extra Credit that is not hard.

This guy has more energy than a 4 year old on crack. You can't read anything he writes on the board, and his sentences are super fragmented. He is a good guy at heart, a little arrogant at times, but he does want you to learn.

i wasn't sure about him at first, but sum is a pretty awesome teacher. the tests were pretty much all essay-based, but there were also plenty of opportunities for extra credit. he doesn't really follow the textbook at all, so don't waste your money.

He's a tenure professor so he doesn't really have to care too much about what we have to say. He doesn't list his office, office hours, and what his grading system is. He makes you finish his sentences and he calls everyone 'Sir'.

I drop his class after one session just after listening to his manic speaking pace...and the fact that the book was the size of a dictionary.

This guy cracks me up. He isn't necessarily funny, but he cracks me up. The material isn't always easy but he tries to make you understand; mostly by filling in the blanks of his sentences. Although the blanks are usually not even macro relevant... :)

this man makes you finish his sentences. not once during the semester did he finish his own sentence. he starts it, and then points to someone random in the class to finish it. also very unclear. i usually get straight A's, and i got a C.

this man lives and breathes economics. all he does his talk and talk from the beginning to the end. he always fills up his little cup with water, but only once during the year did he drink it. he spends his whole budget on handouts. get out now!!!
