The hardest 101 class ever. He is very strict with his grading, even when he tells you what he wants, but he taught me stuff I will keep for the rest of my life. The man is awesome, its just if you ever have a class, be prepared for a long road

Definetly should'nt be considered a 101 class. Lots of papers. Hated the class at first, but had a discussion with him and he was totally understanding, and graded me alot different. overall he is decent.

Easily the worst teacher at Adelphi. He rips apart your writing and is by far the most boring teacher I have had here. He makes awful jokes and if you get on his bad side, he will literally take away points just because he doesn't like you. Seriously, stay away from his classes.

this guy really knows his stuff and will give info from outside the textbooks (2-3). has 6 papers per semester but you're just summerizng the reading (Perry). Midterm and final are a piece of cake-gives you the essays in advance and allows index cards. Just don't get on his bad side and you'll be fine.

Without a doubt worst professor at Adelphi. Extremely rude and boring. He belittles anyone given the opportunity. Always thinks he's right. I have never met someone who could talk for an hour straight. Steer clear of him at all costs. He needs to retire. I only wish I could get a refund for his class.

I love him. He's southern. The class isn't so bad. His essays demand a lot of coverage but very little depth. Pay particular attention to Perry! He's upfront so the papers arent bad and the midterms and such as pie. I've got four words, BIG ASS INDEX CARD. Take decent notes and you are all good.

Starkey is a very smart professor and he knows what he talking about. But if you get on his bad side, he will take you down. He leaves no leway for mistakes of any sort. If you're in Honors Starkey is a really easy prof. If you're not in honors, steer clear. In his non-honors courses he is much harder on writing and will definitely force you to go to the writing center if your writing is sub-par.

Best teacher in the history department. Somewhat demanding on essays, but fair. Easiest Exams to prepare for - ever! Extremely knowledgable, fair, consistent, grades promptly, gives great feedback and is always ready to help. I highly recommend him.

Starkey was one of the worst teachers at adelphi. You can work your ass off, and if he doesn't like you you'll come close to failing. Very condescending, nasty, and belittleing. Shouldn't be a teacher on any level. Overall piece of trash.

He is a very nice teacher (even though he looks like he could be a villian from a movie). His standards for essays are a bit harsh, but it gives you something to work for. Getting an A in his class is a big achievement! His class is a bit boring, though.
