I took two classes with Dr. Leeds a few years ago and his class was the best experience I had while at central. He is one of the best people I've met in my entire life. Loves his work, loves his students, and is brilliant and compassionate. Even from the beginning I felt he was more of a friend than a teacher. He is the greatest guy you'll find.

It was twenty-one years ago that I took Contemporary American Novel. Best class I ever had. Fantastic material taught by the most personable, excited, expressive professor. His insights fascinated, his openness to questions encouraged further inquiry. Leeds offered a space in which to be truly reflective for which I am still grateful and touched.

I took Hemingway with Dr. Leeds and I thought his class was so exciting that I took his other MAA class, Mailer, as well. I also took his contemporary novel class. I highly recommend him. He is smart, funny and so nice. If he taught another class I would take that too!

Dr. Leeds is an amazing man. I took his Mailer course, and his enthusiasm and knowledge made me enjoy the class a lot. He's lenient on attendance, as long as you let him know about it. His teaching methods help you digest and understand the material, while thinking objectively about it. He has really made me a better reader and future teacher.

No, Professor Leeds is not a stickler about attendance. If you email him or tell him when you're absent, or going to be, he'll make an exception for you. He knows his material, his lectures ARE interesting, he offers extra credits and is flexible about essay topics on tests/quizzes. He is VERY accommodating. I strongly recommend his class.

I had Barry Leed's class (actually two classes) so long a go that I have been teaching high school English for 25 years. Barry's Classes prepared me well, and I often reflect on his style and enthusiasm for the subject when I find myself questioning my effectivness as a teacher.

It's hard not to like this man! He's really lenient about the reading quizzes, but the reading is mandatory to pass. It is alot of reading, but you don't have to understand the books in-depth for the quizzes he'll explain them in his lectures. Midterm and finals are very open you can write about basically anything. Stickler on punctuation though !!

Professor Leeds is a very nice man who really knows his stuff. He's a stickler on attendance & tardiness so make sure your in class and on time. However I thought he was extremely boring. He's much too verbos for my liking. I didn't think is lectures were interesting at all. His class were a drag and I really didnt like coming.

I did not leave class a fan of Norman Mailer, but I am a better person for having read the author, and especially for taking Dr. Leeds. Any man that recites poetry and shoots guns on weekends is worth a chance. Dr. Leeds will not let you do. Grades don't come easy, but if you do the work you are fairly rewarded.

Dr. Leeds is a fantastic professor. For this class, he does expect you to do a LOT of reading, but it is worth it, you certainly know whether or not you like Mailer by the end of the semester. Very lively lectures, especially so because Dr. Leeds knows Mailer personally.

Dr Leeds is very interesting and it seems that he knows everything there is to know about the life of Hemingway. He is very interesting and is there to help you. He is a bit hard, but as long as you do the reading you will do fine in his class.

I loved this professor. He was a master at keeping the enthusiasm and interest alive in the class. His passsion helped others get involved. He earned my respect by not being the easiest grader and his sense of humor matched the classroom atmosphere well. I'd take him again anytime.
