Comment:

Professor Kirby was the best. She is so smart and could answer most to all questions thrown at her. She is passionate about her job and really doesn't want to see students fail. You have to study for her tests though and show up to all classes.

Comment:

This class was hard for an IDS. It is a major class for Psy and so there was a lot of reading. The test is reflective of the study question so you must do them. The study questions are long. She is a nice professor and cares but the lectures are out of the book and long. There is a long project at the end and two essays.

Comment:

Being that she is the head of the psyc department, I thought her class was going to be a lot tougher, it really isn't. If you pay attention, take detailed notes of what she says, and participate, you WILL PASS. Yes, she's intimidating, but she brings a light heartedness to the class. She's strict, but she's easy to approach. I would take again.

Comment:

Dr. Kirby, while a very nice lady, is not an easy teacher. She shows powerpoints to convey her lessons, but each powerpoint only contains a heading and then it is up to you what to write in your notes. Overall, very monotonous and explains the material misleadingly. However, I'm taking another class with her... hopefully it goes better.

I love this professor. She is sort of monotone and boring, but she is super intelligent and explains the material well. I was very interested in the subject, which made it easier. She expects you to read each chapter of the book, and it's crucial for doing well. There are four tests, no quizzes, and two writing assignments.

Very helpful when you needed it! Tests are half multiple choice and then short answers. You're not allowed to keep your graded tests, but are able to go to review sessions to look them over for the final.

This class was very interesting and I learned a lot. There were four exams primarily multiple choice with a short answer essay at the end. There was also a final paper and presentation of a case study that wasn't too bad at all. I would recommend this professor.

Great professor. Study guides are extremely helpful and she really knows how to teach. Research Methods isn't always the easier class to teach but she makes it enjoyable to attend.

She's an amazing professor. She is soft spoken but if you sit up front, you shouldn't have any problems. She gives out study questions so there's no excuse for not doing well on the tests (other than laziness). She is a tough grader on the essay questions of the test. Make sure you read the text and review the study questions and you'll be fine.

Boring. All the classes are based on study questions and her tests aren't too bad, but it is very hard to stay awake in her class. She can be strict, and can be kind of a you-know-what if the class doesn't participate like she wants. I wouldn't be very eager to take another class with her.

Kirby is an outstanding teacher!! I'm not a PSY major, but if I took one of her classes my fresh. year I would have been. She is extremely fair, helpful & can present even dry material very clear and show it's significance. I am now picking up a PSY minor and will take every class I can with her.

Kirby is my favorite professor here. She is extremely repsectful and nice to students and is a wonderful teacher. You can tell she is really intelligent and interested in what she teaches. Definitly recommend her.

Very nice lady and very helpful. Multiple choice on tests are easy but essay questions she expects a lot. overall a good teacher with relatively hard tests.
