Took the class in Spring 2015. & honestly, I still can't say what exactly we actually learned in that class. He's a pretty disorganized, irresponsible professor who doesn't care much about his students or how much they learn. He often went on tangents in lectures & poorly conveyed material that might've been important. He's just not worth taking.

He's the easiest CHM teacher. He's not a good one though. At least I got a good grade, and he's a really nice guy. He's pretty fair too. I liked him!

Dr. Rood is a good guy, he has a lot of knowledge. His notes do not make alot of sense though, test one is easy, test two go to SI, its word for word, test three is the suggested problems from the book. Good guys, he'll listen to you and help you out ALOT. A on final= A for course. G'luck

Has selective memory. If he decides you are a bad student, you'll have a hard time defending yourself.Has his favorites. Repeats the same stories over & over.Always late to class & often leaves class during the session.Do not expect him to be fair or examine everyone's actions equally, including his own.Classes unstructured & expectations unclear.

I had him for my lab, he is the best person to ask for help on the material. If you are not the strongest at chem or dont like it, he will help you to get a better understanding of the material. Honestly its the best class i have had.

He's a very laid back guy. Assumes you know the material before he even covers it. He's rarely organized, and his teaching style is not very polished. If you ask him for help about specific things, he'll try his best, but you gotta do the work yourself. Don't take him, but he's a really nice and friendly guy.

Dr. Rood has to be one of the best professors at Mercer! I had him for both CHM 111&112. He is so understanding and extremely helpful! All you have to do is pay attention in class and work problems in the book (almost all test questions come from the book). Go talk to him during office hours and become friends with him!!! I got an A in his class!

Dr. Rood not such a great teacher. If you just need to take a science class to get your credit you should take him, otherwise take a class where you will learn something

His tests are a joke. I had harder tests in my High School Gen Chem class. If you plan on taking any more chemistry courses do not take Rood because you don't learn anything in his class.

I loved the misconception that many had that Rood was going to be an easy A b/c I knew how he was from 1st semester...you must learn to read the material and do PLENTY of practice problems (nothing is spoon fed anymore). But as a person Rood is great very understanding and approachable I would take him for a teacher agian.

Dr. Rood is a really nice guy, and his class is really easy, but be prepared to not know enough of it for either the final or more advanced classes. Actually read the book on your own and don't expect him to teach it, because he wont do the text anywhere near justice. Go to him for help, instead.

Three ways to do well in this class. 1)Go to class 2) Study ahead on your own 3) GO TO SI!!!! He is a very nice man who is willing to work with you, but if you don't put in your own effort, then this you'll get nowhere.

I worked my butt off in another chemsitry class and completely understood the material. In Rood, I am also working my butt off just as much to figure out what the heck he is teaching. If an A is necessary for your grade, take Moore, Dopke, or someone else and prepare to study hard, but this class will fail to prepare you for the MCAT, PCAT, or DAT.

Dr. Rood is the nicest teacher on campus, however not very good. He doesn't do a good job covering all of the information that he will test you on, you've really gotta work a lot outside of class to pass. Everyone says he is easy, but I think they confuse this with nice, you've really gotta work hard outside of class to make it. Great guy though
