It is actually impossible to please this professor. She will take points off for every single little thing. She is so frustrating and I completely regret taking her. I am at the point that I will be meeting with the dean of Ocean County College. She completely lacks sympathy for her students. DO NOT TAKE.

Comment:

Great Professor! Lectures are explained in depth, just add a couple notes to the power points and do the study guides; not mandatory. Ofcourse study, study, study! Extra credit is also available. I also had Professor Murphy for lab and she was amazing, no lab work-just fun, knowledgeable experiments!! Professor Murphy knows her stuff!!

Comment:

I have taken Murphy both in class and online. She is easy for both but I preferred her more in class. In class lots of extra credit, easy to follow all her tests are just what's on the PowerPoint especially diagrams. Online she grades things heavily, and marks you off for everything. Over all she is extremely nice and passionate about what she does

I was afraid to take Micro in a 5 week summer course, but Dr. Murphy made the class really interesting! I was able to absorb most of the material for the exams just by sitting in lecture. Make sure you take her for lab too! She was great. You have to really put effort in. She gives study guides for both lecture and lab that are extremely helpful.

Professor Murphy is an awesome professor,even for a 5 week summer course! She made the class really interesting to me, and I was able to absorb most of the material for the exams just by sitting in lecture. Had her for lab too and she was great. If you put some effort in, getting an A isnt too difficult. Gives study guides for both lecture and lab.

She is a good teacher. You don't really need the book because she makes powerpoints and goes off of them but if you're having trouble understanding her slide then I recommend getting the book. Her tests were kind of hard but they are all multiple choice. Her labs are so simple. You take quizzes and one test. Gives study guide for all.

It's straight lecturing to the end of the semester. She's not very social beyond asking questions, & if you're a non-science major prepare to feel the disconnect. Class feels pretty pointless tbh, your only grades are 5 exams. I taught myself everything off her slides at home and aced the tests. I think she's an alright professor all in all.

Took her for lab and lecture. Lab is straight forward with a cumulative final at the end which if studied for, is an easy A. Lecture was a little more difficult. Must know material well for tests. She chews gum all day. Reads off powerpoints; do not need the book.

She can be a very sassy lady at times but she really knows what she's talking about and truly does care. Her tests are pretty tough, her lab quizzes are easy. Definitely study for the tests and pay attention in class because this info is pretty important and ultimately useful for nursing. Oh, and don't forget to do the 2 discussions and case study

She is a weird lady. If you don't like when professors lecture with gum in their mouth, please don't take her. It is so nasty every class and she smacks it. She's alright though. She asks if you have questions, then you ask them, then she acts like you're stupid. She is nice, but can have an attitude. It's an easy class just study the power points!

Took her for microbiology, not sure on the course code. Very specific with the written part of the labs, she takes off points for stupid stuff. quizlet the test and you will get an A. Third test was a little tricky. Don't wait until last minute for the labs because they have to incubate, they are easy though. Wouldn't give me the .6 for the A.....

I had her for microbiology. She talks down to you and is very condescending. She wants you to ask questions, and when you do, she's like "you should know this already." I find this subject very interesting, but everyday I dreaded going to class. 4 exams. gives powerpoints. and study guide. she doesn't always go by them. "preparing you for nursing"

Do not buy the book. Study from the powerpoint presentations and do the study guides. Microbiology requires studying, but as long as you review the material and ask questions its not too difficult to do well. She wants you to ask questions even if she picks at you a little for them. If she teases you about a question laugh it off she isn't serious.

Dr. Murphy is an extremely nice lady. However I did not favor her teaching style. She would literally go through half a chapter in one lecture, which is tedious. At the end of the semester, we only had two days left to begin two new chapters, so she rushed it and it was not enjoyable. Overall this class was okay,but she needs to work on some things

microbiology is a tough subject. DONOT get the book. She uses powerpoints. This class is hard. You need to study to pass, without a doubt. Go to class and pay attention. She does the best she can. She gets off topic a lot but is very knowledgeable of the subject. Her lab class was hard.

A very nasty professor online. Don't ask for any help and you will be OK. She takes forever to get back to you and she acts as if you are a bother. It is evident that she hates teaching and hates the school so why to they keep her around?

Horrible teacher for online Microbiology. She is never there and takes a long time to respond to e-mail. I had problems with the online labs and she was no help. She had a major attitude. Do not take this professor.

For Microbiology, you will not be disappointed with Professor Murphy. She is passionate about the subject matter. She has even mastered the craft of teaching, so you will learn without even realizing it. If you do the reading, study the power points, and answer the study questions, you should get an A. but you have to do the reading BEFORE class.
