This class had potential, but he was late or didn't show up a lot of times. His teaching style is useful and he makes it enjoyable. He is a fair grader and will answer questions after class. The main issue was that he didn't show up and I needed a little more assistance.

Mr. Finkenbinder is a wondrful tcher and his class was pretty interesting. I would recommend this class for people who are willing to learn something new and don't get distracted easily. He was absent and late at times but still managed to teach that days lesson. Don't buy the second book! Also don't be absent you could easily get lost in letters!:]

The symbolic logic class was easy and fairly interesting. for people who like to do algebra the work is easy and kinda fun. don't bother buying the second book because you wont even finish the first. constantly late or wont show up. many times will end the class early or cancel it which sucks. good guy but not very helpful.

Comment:
Took him for the symbolic logic class and ended up dropping it because I was SO ANNOYED with him. He was late literally to EVERY class- sometimes showing up just to tell us that he had to leave. It's seriously irritating when you get to class 10 minutes early, only for him to be 10-20 minutes late and then to end the class a half hour early.

Wow, I could honestly say he has been, by far, the best and worse experience in my college life (which is only a semester). Uh... He lost the entire class' first quiz and we didn't take our third quiz because he wasn't present in class a lot, so we ran out of time. If you pass all the tests, you'll pass the class. Recommended.

He was by far one of worst teachers I have ever come across. And, I am a teacher now. He is very disorganized. I took his class a few years back. It took him 71/2 weeks to get us our midterms back. He is always behind and over 75% of the time more than 10 min later for class. half of the class was barely getting C's or failing. Highly intelligent.

I bet it's not easy to stand up there and talk for over an hour but he did it everyday and he was always entertaining. I learned so much and I'm so grateful. It's too bad Finkenbinder doesn't teach more classes. He is so funny too!

lectures are somewhat entertaining and interesting, even for an early morning class. copious amounts of reading needed to be done. tests are in essay form, and are difficult because your grade is given relative to the best answer given by one of your classmates. fun overall, gives a good western philosophy class. missed 3-4 lectures due to meetings, emergencies, etc.

The class is tough but really interesting. Beside a lot reading stuffs, it requires high understanding. It's philosophy, the most difficult subject to understand. But if u get into it, it will be straightforward. By the way, it's always a morning class, and the professor really likes cancelling classes while i know he is busy.

HE TEACHES THE CLASS @7:45, SO IT'S AN EARLY CLASS. HE ONLY MISSED ONE LECTURE(FALL 05). HE IS ONE HARD GRADER, HIS CLASS WAS ONE OF THE HARDEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN. YOU HAVE TO READ A LOT AND PAY ATTENTION TO HIS LECTURES BECAUSE IT IS GOOD TO USE HIS EXAMPLE ON THE ESSAY EXAMS. I AM NOT A PHILO MAJOR AND I BEARLY PASSED HIS CLASS WITH A C-

Long boring lectures. He isnt there 80 % of the time which leaves you without a grade untill the last two weeks of school where he crams all the info into. Tests are all essay form. If you arent into philosophy, dont bother taking this class, or you will fail and die of boredom at the same time.

At an ungodly hour of the morning, he is fun and energetic and very helpful. You can tell he knows his stuff - and he slides in nice bits of humor too. I wish he taught more classes, he's my favorite philosophy instructor, and it is actually going to be my major.

The class is philosophy, so if your in it to get an easy A your not thinking! He is a brilliant communicator, and his lecture is outstanding. occasionally absent, probably due to him being the dean of the department. Tests difficult if you don't study.

his exam is very confusing, broad and unclarified. his grading system is very detailed, and he cuts the points in very detail, small, and unnecessary things. he also grades the exam so late. his lecture is boring and unclear. he does not show up many time

Good lectures, but tests are essay form and it was difficult to understand what kind of anwser he was looking for. Don't take as an early class (ie. 7am) he dosent show up half the time, but when he does he takes role
