It is true that he is tough, but you will learn if you have the balls to do the work. Honestly, academic rigor is a good thing, which most reviewers here don't understand. You don't do the work, learn nothing, and then come on here a complain about the professor. Uh, what's wrong here? This man has a heart of gold and will help you if you need it.

Very nice man outside of class but incredibly difficult teacher.Readings will bore you to tears but you have to read them to pass the weekly quizes.Exams are hard.I am an A/B student and this is the first time in 4 years of college that I'm in fear of failing. Take the class if you already have the basic knowlege or if you don't want a social life.

This guy is really hard, and he has a lot of rules. You have to work really hard to get a good grade. I'm around a C+/B- and proud of it (Don't mess up the rules either - he sticks to them! I hear he is a good tennis player too, but he looks too old to play tennis.

I took this class two semesters ago, and I come back here every semester with this message...PROFESSOR CARRERAS IS A LOUSY TEACHER. I am an A / B student. I didn't fail his course, I got a C. But my problem with him isn't his grade. It's that he treats people like cattle and acts like he knows it all. If you take the class, don't let him run u ovr.

He is bad, but not completely horrible. Class is pretty boring and repetitive, but you sort of expect what is going to be on the exams - even though he is a hard grader. He is very set in his ways and values only his opinions. Supplements lectures with boring videos. If you regurgitate what he says, then you'll make it out of his class with a B.

Don't take this class unless you seriously have to and are very interested in the subject. He is a very hard grader on both tests and papers. As a B student in college I got a D in the class. I did every assignment on time and studied for every test. He is all over the place in his lectures and notes. I don't recommened this class.
