Could not be more boring. Took him once a week and wanted to die as the hours dragged on. Don't take him unless absolutely necessary. Couldn't pay attention to this guy or the reading longer than a few seconds!

I took him for "The English Novel." I found Nickerson to be very animated and made the subject matter interesting even though first impression is that he's a stuffed shirt intellectual. He's actually very personable and helpful. Lots of reading, but you can probably fake it with cliff notes. Assignments/tests not hard at all.

HORRIBLE! He drones on and on for the entire class. He asks the class for their opinion but then overrides any comments with his own. Two papers: mid-term and final, he writes comments but you cannot read them! Also, two exams mid-term and final: id's, and essay questions, HARD ONES! Thinks he's BRITISH!!

Tests are really easy, and he never springs surprises on students. He is really excited about the subjects he is teaching and it shows. I have taken two classes with him, and felt he was an awesome teacher in both.

Cant believe this guy is still teaching. Took class 2 yrs ago. LOTS of reading and i found any imput from students was wrong by him..he thinks he is a Brit. He ruined my love for Alice in Wonderland. Class could have been better if 3 or 4 books were required..NOT 8

Great professor, I've learned so much from him. Very articulate, very knowledgeable. His lectures are imperative, so you can't skip a class. Pay attention to the guidelines for tests and assignments on the syllabus and you'll do fine. Lots of reading, but not overwhelming.

I just think he is mean. My cousin died on the first day of classes, and I missed class. He was very rude about giving me a syllabus so I could catch up. I just only hope he never has to go through the same thing, I ended up dropping his class.

Nickerson was a very difficult teacher. His classes are very very boring. If you take this class, prepare to write several papers and work hard. You must memorize many titles and authors for the midterm and final. He is very strict with attendance.
