I learned absolutely nothing form Prof. Epps. If you would like to actually learn in class, and get your moneys worth, register for a class that is not taught by Epps.

Epps has a really big ego. She is a Georgetown Law Grad. and she WILL boast about it. Her teaching is litigation-style, which is pretty fun to watch. However, there is no need to participate, no need to even do the reading. The problem with her is that she will give no justification with ANY of her grades nor even explaining the test.Unreliable

Hated this class (comparative systems of law and justice). She does not teach anything of substance during the class and then grades exams arbitrarily. Talks to students as if they know nothing at all about law, writing, etc. Avoid this prof if you can.

Arbitrary grading based off of a preference for the most ignorant writing style imaginable. Decent discussions on inane topics. Possibly the most frustrating academic experience of my life. Completely disorganized and utterly slow.

**Take this class/Professor.** Had Prof. Epps for Cities and crime, she is a former NYC DA so she knows a TON. She is also very interesting. A lot of class discussion and debate, not many notes, no in class tests, and minimal work at home. Books are interesting, and there are only two or three graded assignments all year.

This was an easy class with a rather basic investigation of its subject. Classes and discussion interesting but not out of anyones depth. Work assigned was worthwhile.

didn't really have a structured way of teaching which is hard for a student like me. She teaches straight from the book so there's no need to read it half the time. Midterm and final are take home but she's definitely a hard grader.

really nice woman, but arbitrarily assigns grades. i attended, participated, and turned in two solid papers on time for both the midterm and the final, and still got a B, without really knowing why. A lot of good class discussion, but I really didn't actually learn anything.

Very nice and knowledgable woman. The nature of the class, full of discussion, made it one of my favorites in the term. But she falls apart with grading. takes forever to return stuff and doesn't balance reading assignments. She would be one of the best if it was all discussion.

Great Professor! She really makes time to meet with students! She is also one of the only professors at AU who puts a major focus on writing. She knows what it takes to be successful in Law School and beyond, and she teaches her class as if we are professionals, not just students. She requires a great deal, yet the payoff is rewarding because you learn so much about the law, current events and the history of legal decisions and laws that shape our country. She is great because of her commitment to students!

What an awful class. Worst experience I've ever had in a class. On presentations and papers she will arbitrarily assign grades even when you've followed the rules. I'm an honors student majoring in English yet she gave a C on my paper and bluntly told our class that we were stupid.

She really makes you think with her class discussions. She really comes off as intimidating, but she really isn't and as long as you pay attention and do what she says you do fine.

She's really great at holding open class discussions. Those who complain about her lack of course focus probably sat in the back corner, didn't participate, and are sour because they don't know why they didn't get an A! She's an easy A, fun to listen to, and all around her class was a pleasure!

Awesome professor. The classes are interesting and she makes a point out of discussing current legal events. If you are a good writer you will do just fine on the take home midterm and final exam. Taking a class with professor Epps will enrich your experience at AU!

I don't know what everyone below this is smoking. Epps is one of the most qualified professors that I've ever had. If she seems to drift from her syllabus, it's because she focuses on what the students seem most interested in. I've taken 2 classes, gotten easy A's, and loved her. Great resource too.

She was informed about the information she wanted you to know, just had a very vague way of teaching it. Poor grading style. Extremely late with returning graded homework/papers (if you're lucky enough to get them back at all)

she's quite mean, irresponsible. she does not give back papers and you have no proof of your grade. true, she does just give you the grade she wants without any justification. what a lousy professor, AU should fire her for sure!
