Comment:
Professor Zhao isn't a very good lecturer, but he tries his best, O chem is a difficult subject after all. Tests are multiple choice, and mostly cover the topics on his powerpoints. Get ready to read, and doing practice problems from the back of the book will help you get an A.

Comment:
Zhao isn't best professor but at lectures he follows powerpoints. So if you skip the class (which most people do) you can just read ppt. He has pop-quizzes after exams but they count as extra credit. Also he is only professor that use multiple choice exam which makes everything easier. Do not test over mechanisms, you just need to choose product.

Zhao was a good teacher and I feel like I actually learned and understood the chemistry, however his tests were tricky and many times asked us things we never went over

organic chemistry is a difficult subject but zhao makes it very clear. every test is curved between 10 to 15 points. max grade per test for my class was a 120. he does extra credit pop quizzes so going to class is a must. i would recommend him to any student. you can get a C by not trying and a B by putting some effort.

Organic is hard, but he makes it easy. I'm average intelligence, and I could study for like two days before every test and I still pulled high C's. I didn't study at all for the final and I'm sure I did fine. I've basically done nothing all semeser except two to three days before an exam, and I've easiily survived.. This guy is easy, trust me.

Professor Zhao is an easy enough professor once you get accustomed to his accent. His tests are always curved, and he gives random quizzes in class that are tacked on as a curve for each exam. He doesn't focus on mechanisms enough if you want to take the MCAT. Reading the book and going to lectures will get you by. Extra credit for office visits.

I didn't learn much from going to class. I had to learn everything by studying on my own. He is a little difficult to understand, but not too bad. He puts a huge (2 letter grade) curve on the exams and gives extra credit for going to his office hours.

organic is a tough class as it is, but this guy makes it very hard. first of all, even if you sit in the front row, you cant hear him. his classes are REALLY boring. if you go to him outside of class, he isnt helpful at all! no study guides! try to avoid him!

I had a few friends take Kurz and a found myself doing better than all three of them. Zhou's class is not difficult if you put in work. Dont wait till last minute however as I did sometimes. He doesnt test over mechanisms, but tests a lot over names. Just learn the material, and ask him questions. I struggled but still pulled out a B...somehow

Dr. Zhao is difficult to understand at first, however his exams are relatively easier than most organic exams in the sense that mechanisms are never tested. Just memorize structures/reagents, and keep up with nomenclature(he is big on it) and you will do fine. He curves generously and awards extra credit for going to his office.

It is very hard to understand him. He relies too much on the online quizzes that students have to pay for. Is it just a coincedence that the professor that created the quizzes is related to him. I think he is trying to make money out of his students.

No doubt the class is hard, but if you read the book and do all the problems and study all the reagents, it is definitely possible to make an A or B. You do have to put in the time outside of class to do well and I don't recommend cramming unless you're good at it. There's too much material to do that, but overall he's a great prof!

Dr. Zhao is a great professor. No doubt his class is hard, but that's because he expects a lot of his students. Go to office hours, he is more than willing to help. Tests are difficult, but definitely manageable if you know the material. Very nice guy.

I thought his tests werent THAT complicate. It is organic. And im pretty sure he is capable of making a harder test (esp in OrgII where there are about 100+ reagents to memorize). You dont really have to go to class. Just study and do the HW then it's an easy A. His tests is more about naming and reactions, not that many multiple choices.

Good lecture, my only complaint was that exams would have abbreviated reagents and chemicals that werent in the book or introduced during lecture! The curves are generous, so it is hard for me to know if i really got a solid ground out of this class. Good for bio students, but chem students might want something more thorough.

GREAT professor, very nice guy. Accent isn't as bad as everyone says I don't think. Difficult material, but I guess that's expected of organic chem. Office hours can help, be sure to do all the OWL quizzes and be there for turning point, they are good grade boosters if you complete them all. Tests are hard but manageable, overall good class.
