Lots of reading and papers, but if you the work you'll do well in the class. Exams questions are essay, but they're based on what you read. If he assigns a book, actually read the book. There are 1-question quizzes on the assigned reading at the beginning of every class meeting. They're not hard if you did the reading.

He was a very good professor who gave you all the things that you needed to easily pass the class with an A. You do need to read the material, but if you follow the study guide the tests are an easy A.

I had heard that he was the religion professor that most avoided. I immediately liked him from day one! I will admit that yes, there is a lot of reading and yes, there are one question quizzes every day that a reading is a due. However, professor Burgdoff is an extremely intelligent man who creates an open, discussion-based atmosphere!

At first I was kind of iffy about Dr. Burgdoff. He is outspoken and if you are not participating in class he will make you participate. After a while, I got used to him and he actually is pretty cool. He let students talk about what was bothering them at the beginning of class every Monday and seemed relatable.

Oh Burgdoff. Religion with him was probably one of the hardest classes I've ever had to take in my life. He really challenges you and forces you to think untraditionally. Kinda a tough grader. Tests are all in the same format and are pretty straightforward if you study his study guides.

He makes you do way to much work and he grades very hard. He is a nice guy but his class is way to much work.

Wicca and Neo-Paganism, aside from being one of the most unique classes offered in the Religion department, was also THE most interesting class I have had at Capital thus far. Be on the lookout for Dr. Burgdoff's special topic courses. He makes them interesting and the class discussions are amazing. You never know what's going to come up next!

The classes I have taken from Dr. Burgdoff have altered the way I think about religion for the better! He chooses some fantastic books and lets his students talk about the portions that interest them. I really appreciated how he would never shoot down any opinions and allow us to explore them as much as we desired. Highly recommended!

Dr. Burgdoff is a great professor, but ALWAYS be prepared for class. Unless you're really good at thinking up abstract thoughts off the top of your head, that is. I took Honors Intro to Religion, so it may be different. He can be vague when assigning papers, but it is to help you think. I would recommend anyone to take his class.

This guy is hard and challenging but an excellent professor. The students who were lazy complained about him a bit, however he is clear and concise on what he expects from his students. He will also clarify any questions regarding the subject matter as well. He poses questions and I liked that.

This is a great professor that demands effort in his class. One needs to stay on top of their assignments to do well. The result is a lot of knowledge that one can draw on in the future. He does a great job in not using any bias at all! I do not even know if he has a religion! The things you learn in this class you can use the rest of your life!

sigh...ok heres the deal...this guy is pretty boring and his tests are mostly essay. I didn't learn too much and he is a very hard grader. I received a poor grade while following the grading rubric to a tee. Many classmates find his grading style to be unfair. He is a soft spoken nice man, but the class as a whole should be taken from another prof

Teacher is alright. Reading is a leantcy. If you read some and do the journals your good. Be prepared to think outside the box. If you don't understand something ask. He dose like to talk too.

Now I'm not a huge fan of required religion classes in the first place, but this guy's teaching style is ridiculous. He'll ask in depth questions about the reading as if you were the book's author. When someone doesn't know or says something wrong, watch for it. He will smirk as if something's funny. He leaves most of the teaching up to you and the book. Why is he even needed? I recommend dropping the class and taking it from an actual professor.

Very insightful ethics class. In my class we had a very eclectic mix of studetns and Dr. Burgdoff did a great job of drawing us all in and getting everyone to think about the topics. Chose very interesting selections for us to read.

Not trying to brag- I get good grades on papers. I got an F on a paper in his class for no apparent reason. He didn't even put comments on the paper! Just a big fat F! How am I supposed to fix it if he doesn't say what's wrong?!?!?!

Wow. Daily quizzes suck. So does having TurnItIn.com not work and being penalized for it.
