Don't worry about coming to class on time because she is always late. Very easy going professor, she can be persuaded to move due dates around if the students complain. Her lectures are long and sometimes boring. Don't expect to get any papers back for at least a month. She is not a tough grader. Just do the assigned readings and you will be fine.

it is pointless to go to her class because you learn nothing. All the information i've learned comes from the textbook. Makes you write so many papers. Don't take this class to fulfill a Gen.Ed. make sure you're actually interested in the material

rebecca is very smart and knows her stuff, but she can't teach at all. she is all over the place. we have so many books to buy and read! there are no tests though, just short papers

I was in her freshman Jerusalem seminar and she's also my advisor. I think she's a sweet and knowledgeable lady, but she's a little all over the place. She's very interested in both Judaism and other religions/cultures and goes on long tangents. She also gives out soooo many readings and makes you buy like 5 books. But overall I enjoyed her class.

Unless you understand a lot about Jewish literature and Jewish lifestyle before a class with her I would not recommend it. I took a class with her that I disliked extremely because she expects everyone to know everything about Judaism. I also disliked the way she lectured down at students rather than taught.

I took Hebrew Scriptures with Rebecca. If you have a question, she usually goes off on a tangent and never really answers it. She's an easy grader and the only tests you have are the midterm and final. There are also 2 papers. Theres a lot of reading but you dont have to do it. Out of class you meet with a partner and answer Bible questions.

Mordehai at Kosher Corner will tell you more about Judaism then Rebecca. She does have a Phd from Harvard but Mordehai has a Phd from Cornell i think.Ya'll know who keepin it Kosha!

This was a good class and Lesses is very Knowledgeable. It was sometimes boring, but mostly I enjoyed the class. Her grading system is a little odd, for example an A- is a 97-94 and a B+ is a 93-90, but the class is pretty easy and worth while if you put in the time.

Rebecca has an incredible wealth of knowledge about Jewish ritual, mysticism, tradition, and social issues. However, she has NO idea how to teach it to other people and jumps all over the place. Hard to stay engaged. Easy grader.

Had her for Jewish Mysticism. The class itself & the material is VERY difficult to understand, she is disorganized, boring, very unclear, never gets to all the material, gets side tracked a lot, wears REALLY weird outfits, which are distracting. But she is REALLY REALLY NICE and marginally amusing

funniest class i've ever taken at Ithaca. But she's more than willing to let us joke around and have fun with the subject matter, which keeps the entire class from ever geting bored. She encourages informative yet lighthearted and fun discussions on many difficult issues

The class is boring and feels like it will never end, but it's so easy that I'd take it again. You have to write a few papers and show at least some ability to grasp the concept of what's being taught, but otherwise it's cake. Take it, and enjoy your A-, or A if you try a little harder.

Rebecca Lesses is obviously very intelligent. The reading material for Gender & Sexuality in Judaism is intense and comes from a variety of sources and opinions. Class discussions have been very informative
