Prof. Coburn is extremely straightforward. If youre willing to take as much time as necessary to fully comprehend each part of the curriculum then you will pass and he WILL be willing to help you when youre struggling. Yes, hes extremely fast, and even includes problems on exams that require out-of-the-box thinking. Great man, but OKAY teacher.

Worst class I have ever taken. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. YOU WILL FAIL. I regret signing up for it, I regret not dropping it. You will fail, even if you are an A/B student. Are you sick? Doesn't matter- no credit. Family emergency? He doesn't care. Need help, or want his office hours? He will never show up. If you can take any other class; DO IT.

This class is NOT a blow off class. Prof Coburn talks fast, moves fast and gives you A LOT of material to cover in a short amount of time. He's fair but tough and expects you to study and work hard, not a bad thing. I honestly think if there was less material to cover this class would have been easier. It's just too much for a 100 level course.

Prof. Coburn is extremely thorough, perhaps even too thorough for a 100 level class. He is a nice guy, with long lectures that feature mostly pictures. Notes are important. Save all handouts. Tests are extremely lengthy and will require several hours of study time to adequately prepare. You will work very hard for your A.

I'm currently taking his class. Hands down THE worst class I ever had. This is the hardest class I had to take and I'm a senior. He teaches the class like it's a 300 level course he's AWFUL. I study, do the assignments, go to every class, take notes, I even went to his office hours for extra help and he told me to get a tutor. Worst professor.

We should rate the Earth Science Department! They know how students feel about this professor. They get complaints about his every year! They read our evaluations. However, the department head does not care. They have been petitions passed around for years, yet he's still teaching. who's fault is that? I passed b/c I had a talk with coburn.

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Don't take ESC 103 or any other classes with him! You will either end up with dropping it or get F. His lectures are very long and he uses only pictures for over 2 hours. QUIZ every week! NO Reviews and EXAMS are super hard. The highest grade was a 68. Lots of people dropped the class. WORSE Prof. at SCSU! PLEASE AVOID!

He was an awful teacher! I was struggling in his class and asked for extra help and he told me that was what the Academic Success Center was for. Finally he agreed to help me during his office hours and didn't show up. When I approached him after class his response was "i'm an adjunct, it's not mandatory for me to hold office hours."

Hands down worst teacher I've ever had, he expects you to know the material and when you ask questions he is rude in front of the whole class and makes you feel stupid. His PowerPoints have inaccurate info, so make sure to double check the material before the test since he will mark you wrong for strictly following the PowerPoints. WORST CLASS!

Not sure where the "good" responses are coming from but they are sure not from the students. It's unfortunate that this professor is not there for you when you need help. He does not compromise with you and when you ask him a simple question he does not answer it. He gets frustrated when you don't get the material. AVOID!! (

I found out after the semester ended that i had gallstones but during the semester when we were trying to figure it out he told me that i could not show up for the final and if i did he would not let me take it. this was after i had handed in all of my work. hes awful!

I thought he is great teacher. Extremely knowledgeable, and he teaching technique is awesome. He draws, he shares examples that which we could relate to, he tells jokes and makes the class laugh. If you go to his class, study for quizzes and tests you will definitely pass and have fun.

This guy would tell us to focus on "big picture" stuff and then test/quiz us on details. He would laugh at anyone who wanted help and complain about having to help them. he was a total jerk who acted like none of us tried hard enough. He won't give back exams and his grading is a mess. Avoid this guy at all costs, I wish I had...worst class at SCSU

This teacher's style floored me. He will TELL you in class that something won't be on the test and then it will be. I think that's why he keeps all the tests and won't let the students bring them home, but I took fastidious notes and I could tell. Do not take him unless you want to teach yourself. He takes out his frustrations on the classes.
