Comment:
His material is NOT based off of the textbook. His lecture slides consist only of pictures or 1 word terms. You basically have to be a scribe since his information is not in the textbook, this makes it impossible to study for exams which were ridiculously difficult. Yes, he is a funny and charismatic but I would NEVER recommend him.

Best professor I've had at UIC. I wish he did all the lectures instead of having guest lecturers. I feel like every time I go to class I'm watching a Ted Talk.

Extremely interesting lecturer. He is so passionate about the topics, you can't help but want to go to class. His powerpoints are not good for studying and he doesn't use the book, so you definitely need to go to class and take notes

Wirtshafter is an awesome professor. His slides tend to be only pictures, so I used to record his lectures and a week and a half before each exam I would listen to them. I've had him for BIOS 484 and BIOS 485. Would definitely pick him over other professors. Never used textbook. just listen to his lectures and study what he says. simple as that

His teaching style held my interest in class. The downside was that I was unsure of what to focus on when studying for tests because his powerpoints largely consisted of pictures. I highly recommend reading the book for comprehension of material.

D.W. directed this course. I no longer believe in UIC's neuroscience major: 5th year senior. I felt that the lecturers tried to sell their research to me. I don't feel that past UIC classes prepped me for this 400-level studying. People I matured through the program with also are ticked. I wouldn't do it again. I need physics for the MCAT. A WASTE!

Great professor, one of the best at UIC. He's super clear in his lectures and repeats important information constantly. If you take good notes, GO TO LECTURE, and study his powerpoints, you're guaranteed an A or B.

Very good professor. His lectures are interesting. The material is pretty difficult but he makes it easy. He was one of three professors for this class and he saved me on the final. I was failing the class before he came.

He didn't teach the whole class, but for the section he lectured, he was great! He has an excellent approach to teaching, and does it in such a way you just can't forget! He uses analogies and has a variety of funny jokes. The only qualm I may have would be his slides are not very helpful when you go back to review, but then, you should be in class!

Wirtshafter is so much fun. I loved going to his lectures. He doesnt write much down for notes, so you kinda have to guess whats important or not. The paper and quizzes are pretty easy, but if you dont study for the tests, youre kinda screwed.
