The most relaxed professor. He tends to drift off topic constantly but it's about interesting things. Just listen in class and do those simple essays, you'll do fine...

if you don't like shapiro, you probably don't care about art very much. he is an absolute wellspring of knowledge. i hold him in the highest regard and wish he could teach more classes cos i took all of his already. he's witty, encouraging and sensitive, and willing to discuss anything if you inquire sincerely. favorite person at WPU, hands down.

I had him in years of 93-98 and I felt like here is a true professor who teaches the ones that are there to listen. If you think doing homework, reading books and being a robot the way they teach you in school will give you an A... then you are mistaken. You get A for participation during his lecture. Period. You may also learn something.

The guy is a total wack job. He wants you to buy two books, but you will never use them. He just stands there and honestly talks about nothing. no homework, mid-term or final. just two papers that require you to go to a museum. and nobody even went to the museum, they just used the internet! Easy A

This class should be called The Life and Times of David Shapiro. Learned nothing about art. DO NOT buy the textbook. Only a midterm and final paper (based on museum trips) which he doesnt grade based on anything but his own feelings. Pretty boring, but tolerable (wouldnt say much more than that though).

THIS GUY IS SOOOOOOOOO BORING!!!!!!!!!!!! If not needed, do not take this class. This professor is VERY CONCEITED. He thinks the world revolves around "David Shapiro." If you want to have the most boring class in the whole world listening to a bumbling fool that talks about himself 24/7 and waste about 14 weeks of your life, take this class.

Although art is not my major, this professor is probably one of the most interesting i have ever met. He Assigns only 2 papers, which are on museum visits about paintings of your choice in a specific era. He definitely can be boring but its not that bad. I enjoyed his class very much. He also has an attendance sign in sheet every class. Easy A or B.

A sad and pathetic joke. Talks about himself, his poetry and how he deserves some kind of genius award. You learn about him, by him, and nothing about the subject. Don't complain because he is tenured and a full professor. All we learned about was Johns and Ashberry. Its a shame they don't retire him as soon as possible.

By no means do I consider this man a genius but I also know absolutely nothing about art to be fair. He is like most say ODD but he does make you do much. Don't buy the book and try to show up to class as much as possible even though it is 99% boring. I can honestly say that at the end of the semester he didn't know half the classes' names.

This class should be called The Biography of David Shapiro. All he did was talk about himself. It never stopped. Attendance wasn't taken usually, unless only 4 people showed up. He sings randomly, and recites poetry. We only had 2 papers and one class assignment when he wasn't there. DON'T BUY THE BOOKS. We never used it in class or at home.

A very odd man, but not difficult. He just keeps going on and on about I don't know what. He recites poetry randomly and asks students random questions. He gives two papers as the only real assignments all semester. He is really euthastic about art. Once again he isn't a tough professor just really really really really ODD.
