Comment:

This guy is never clear on anything. He does not post homework on the board. In the beginning he posts homework on the blackboard in the beginning but by the end he just verbally states what the homework is. Also he just rambles about previous projects and automation.

Pretty bad teacher. I learned as in much as he taught in hours in a 10 minute youtube video. Fortunately his exams were extremely easy multiple choice questions, so get 100% in exams was easy. I pretty much only showed up for the exams and to turn in the occasional homework..

Comment:

I have had Dr.V for 340 and 482. He does much better in 482. For Mech 340 his lectures are terrible. No one pays takes notes in class and attendance is terrible because the lectures are near useless. He attempts to teach useful things like FEA but you can tell he hasn't actually sat down and designed real world parts with FEA in 30 years.

Assigned a HW assignment through EMAIL on a SATURDAY that was due Monday. He does not review anything and even worse he hardly explains any example he does in class. He just goes up to the board looks at a problem he solved then copies it as fast as he can on the board and doesn't bother to explain why he solved it like this or anything.

He lectures on exactly what's on the test and emphasizes important parts with repetition. Gives good feedback on graded work and is fair with points given. He likes to give big projects in his classes, and in 482 it was optional. It's a lot of work if you opt in for the project, but it means no final has to be taken, and hard work high grade.

Essentially what we have here is a professor who is a nice man but makes very questionable choices in his teaching method. As far as these methods are concerned, they are hard to learn from and sometimes unfair and vague. Consequently, you will feel constant frustration during this class. Question is, should you take him? No.

I took Dr. V. for Dynamics, against the recommendation of other students. That was the biggest mistake I've made in college. He is hard to follow, and although he seems very intelligent, he is not well-suited to teaching. His final was worth 40% of the class grade, and he was merciless in grading it. Very difficult professor. Do not take!

If the question is if he's a good dynamics teacher, then no. He clearly has an advanced understanding of the material and in a way I respect his hard grading methods. But he gives only 3 problems per test, so if you miss one, you're done. His stories about engineering are fascinating, yet his teaching is dull and overly complicated.

For starters, Ramesh never expresses his expectations for the class. He doesn't explain how his grading system works, so you never know your grade really. In class he makes mistakes on the board constantly and is disorganized, nor will he help you during office hours. Take it with Kallio if you want to actually learn, pass, and enjoy the class.

One of the WORST professors on the campus. Constantly lies, never cares about students performance, never gives partial credit; you either pass ABET or you don't because of his grading scheme. Terrible, out of order lectures, straight examples out of the book, but makes them harder to understand... AVOID AT ALL COST!

I have had this teacher for three different classes. He does not curve classes, which is fine, BUT he does not care what the average score is on tests. In ABET accredited classes, we Have to get a 'C' average on the tests to pass. He refuses to alter his teaching style even if the class is failing.

Great teacher! He graded without curves so the grade you get is the grade you earned. Didn't have to worry about how everyone else was doing. HW once a week but it was fairly easy if you understand the material. Extremly laid back teacher that let's the student determine their grade not a curve or how much butt you kiss. We need more like him!

Dr. Ramesh is very good prof who encourages students who try and acknowledges those that exceed expectations. Doesn't spoon feed you. Will show you the path but expects you follow through. I ejoyed talks with him in his office. Very interesting guy if you get to know him.
