The class itself was good, but beware of getting involved with professor's lab. He refused to let a student in his lab publish their honor's thesis, then later stole parts of that student's honors thesis and published it without giving them credit.

Interesting material taught by an interesting professor. Super nice guy, and he tries to keep lectures entertaining by telling jokes. Over 80% of your grade is made up of tests, but easy extra credit opportunities. Definitely recommend for a psych or MHS elective.

Dr. Zald is a nice professor, and he keeps his lectures entertaining. The tests are mostly lecture heavy material, and he gives you study guides. Overall a pretty interesting and fun class - there is some group work and weekly homework assignments.

Dr. Zald was my favorite teacher in my time at Vanderbilt. He cares deeply about his students' learning, has a fantastic deadpan sense of humor that makes the class so much more fun and interesting, and is clear and descriptive of topics. 10/10 would take again.

Great class. Dr. Zald is one of the best profs I've ever had and a hilarious man. Gives amazing lectures and really cares about his students. Puts questions on the tests from the book so you have to read, but tests are pretty easy. 5 min group presentation, no attendance, and gives extra credit. Must take for any psych/neuro major.

Comment:
Professor Zald was fundamentally a nice man, but his class was less than impressive to me. He could be unintentionally offensive, and oftentimes made his class less useful by trying to make it more "fun." He was not always always tactful during sensitive topics. However, after being told he had offended someone, he apologized to the entire class.

Comment:
Zald transforms the study of personality from a dull and speculative stamp collection of theories into a cutting-edge science grounded in neuro-cognitive and advanced psychometric research, which he conveys with wit and charm. If you like a few laughs interspersed with fascinating lectures and a few tests, he'll appeal to you.

This class was ridiculously easy. Dr. Zald is a fun lecturer and going to his classes is entertaining. The information he teaches is pretty intuitive and his tests are straight-forward. I didn't take the pre-req (PSY 101) before taking this class and had no difficulty getting an A.

This class was very hard. A lot of memorization from the textbook was required, much of it material he had not gone over in class. Questions were tricky on exams. Grade is completely dependent on a couple of exams. No curve.

Loved this class. Zald is funny and can teach well. He's pretty engaging and uses lots of examples from movies and such. Tests are not difficult if you use the study guide and he does curve them somewhat.

Absolutely loved this man and this class. Gives out outlines/powerpoints for every lecture, covers all important material in class, tests are multiple choice and fairly straightforward. Makes class fun and interesting by bringing in examples from pop culture and has a great sense of humor. Plus, the subject matter is very interesting/pertinent.

Zald is an entertaining professor, class is worth going to, albeit it's early and attendance isn't mandatory. The tests cover a lot of material, though are fair, so if you read the textbook thoroughly and study, you'll be fine.

Forget what everyone else says -- his tests are HARD, long, and he does not curve them like he says he will. His extra credit is a joke, and I don't mean that in a good way, I mean he does not really give it to you in the end. I should have gotten a higher grade in his class (I calculated it myself) and he gave me lower than I earned. BEWARE!!!!

This guy is great. His lectures are funny and entertaining and very to the point. Also, there is an outline for every lecture, so note taking is easy, and the quizzes and tests should follow a similar format. Love this man
