I was very excited to take this course, however, was disappointed when I kept getting her critiques back on my writing. MLA MLA MLA!! No matter how many times I fixed my MLA formatting something was wrong. The content is interesting, but the feedback that is given is dry and unclear. A lot of times it is hard to understand her comments.

I think this class was definitely interesting and Dr. Trouard did an pretty good job. I do not think it was too bad, she is a huge MLA stickler, but I managed to get some perfect discussions. The quizzes are every other week and are also do-able. Despite what you think: read every single excerpt. Just do it. It'll be helpful.

Trouard meets the criteria of a responsible professor, and I did improve in my writing. However, she often confused being sophisticated with being pretentious, and I felt her feedback was designed to slander rather than help, but I wouldnt discourage someone from taking her, its just a drawback from enjoying the subject.

One word: MLA, MLA, MLA. No matter the feedback I got and the corrections made (and I followed them and the criteria to the letter), I never received a perfect score on any discussion post due to nitpicky points on MLA citation. If you're a masochist and feel like tearing your hair out all semester, take Professor Trouard.

Directions are incredibly vague, feedback is minimal, and she is one of the most politically charged lecturers I've ever had. This class was a waste of time because she simply monitors mistakes without helping you fix them. When you ask for further clarification she sometimes will completely ignore emails. Very frustrating.

Loved her course. She assigns interesting fiction and "think" prompts for discussions. Very tough on MLA, but she gives detailed feedback and will help with drafts. Take her! You'll become a better writer, promise.

Professor Trouard is a must for any literature major at UCF. The way she structures her class is perfect. I love that we sit in a circle for discussions. She challenges her students to use critical thinking skills to analyze the works. She does NOT want you to regurgitate the story. Be specific. Each class starts with a reading quiz, so READ!

Trouard's class was exactly what I would want from an English class. I read novels I would never touch outside of a class, and I feel like my critical thinking and writing abilities have improved drastically. She expects you to come to class prepared and to discuss the material read. You're an English major, it's kind of what you're supposed to do.

For this class the work load is incredibly heavy with a book a week, three papers due throughout the semester (one optional), weekly quizzes, etc. It was heavily peer based with group discussions every class. Overall Professor Trouard was a worthwhile professor but I felt as if there wasn't enough feedback for how much work we were required to do.

Book due every week. Crazy amount of work due during finals (two essays, a final exam, a final project, two "fun" classroom assignments). DOESN'T RESPOND TO EMAILS. Doesn't update syllabus (good luck knowing when anything is actually due). Classroom discussion eats up entire lecture time, so beware if you're not keen on peer-lead classes.

If you're looking for a meaningless, easy A then any class with Trouard isn't for you. If you're looking for a class where you'll learn how to better your writing and read a lot of good books, then she can and will help you if you let her. She'll help you write the way you should have been writing years ago but were never able to. Sorry not sorry.

Dr. Trouard will force you to write the way you always wish you could, but were never smart enough to figure out. If you can't pass one of her classes, please do yourself (and the world) a favor and never pursue literature as a career (or even a casual hobby). If you don't want to read books, do not take upper level lit classes. Thank you.

Yeah, she's incredibly tough. She was probably the toughest professor I've ever encountered during my attendance at UCF. So why did I take a class with her twice? Because you leave the class having learned an immense amount. This is not just empty work crammed down your throat. Personally speaking, it made me such a stronger writer. Loved this lady

Very good teacher, but she assigns tons of work (8 novels, 20-30 short stories, 3 long papers plus final). She is passionate about literature and the classroom discussions are like a book club (sit in circle and discuss). She is very helpful during office hours. Great class, but tons of reading, not a teacher for lazy students.

Very hard grader so expect to work a lot on your paper. Other assignments were pretty manageable, such as mini-presentations. She can be very unclear about assignments and our class was confused quite often. The subject matter was interesting and I liked the books and films that were part of the course. She doesn't really respond to emails.

1 whole book every week is read + miscellaneous reading on the side. Class is conducted in a way that could be compared to a book club meeting. You sit in a circle and discuss. Quiz on reading every class. Mandatory attendance. VERY strict MLA grader. group presentations and you have to lead a class discussion twice. I wouldn't say it's worth it

She is the worst professor at UCF. She expects you to read over 100 pages per class and then you will have no discussion on it. She never taught in this class, she let other students talk and then shot them down saying they were wrong. She doesn't let you know your grade until the end of the semester. Awful professor, should be fired.

She is very tough, but it's only because she wants the best from her students. She is very passionate about what she teaches and I've learned a lot from her. A lot of reading, but it's all interesting. Tough grader but it will make you better in the end, def take her.

She was tough! I don't think I ever earned anything higher than a B in that class(excluding the quiz grades based on reading material)! She was unclear about what she wanted, but she also expected great depth from work. Tons of reading required, but she's happy to give you one on one feedback on your work, so go to office hours!

Very harsh grader. I worked pretty hard for my C. Demands more out of your writing than other professors. Reading quizzes are often extremely hard. But don't be mistaken, shes really cool and I enjoyed the class.
