somewhat interesting subject. very passionate about what she does. grades are ridiculous, though things are curved, decurved, and curved again. tests are from lecture notes only and are hard, posted lecture notes are incomplete to encourage attendance. wouldnt recommend taking this unless necessary.

Interesting class but her tests are outrageous...you need to answer with the exact words she is looking for or you miss all of the points. Also in this course she offers no other ways to accumulate points, tests only and a third of our class usually fails the tests

Dr. Horton is an amazing woman! I learned more from her than many of my other professors combined! She is enthusiastic and passionate about her subject/s, and always, always, always willing to take as much time as needed to help you understand the subjects. If you're a bad student, you won't appreciate her - she'll make you work.

Professor Horton was a very nice woman. She was enthusiastic about the subject material and is very easy to talk to during office hours. She has a more classical approach to lecturing and the exams are difficult and specific (as are the answers she expects).

This woman was wonderful! She was very enthusiastic about her teaching. Her exams were long and difficult, but if you were willing to put in the work, she was very willing to help you understand the material and try whatever to help you do well. I didn't get the best grade in her class, but I thought she was amazing regardless. The material regardi

come to class, listen, and try to become involved in what she's teaching. i changed my major because she impacted me so much. she is an inspiring and lovely woman--kind, helpful, and a passionate teacher--something i had yet to encounter at U of I before her class. no, she's not super easy, but not unbearable. love her!!

She was very ambiguous in everything that she teaches and tests. She is constantly contradicting everything she says in class as if she does not clearly know the material. On her tests, she is looking for very specific words that she said in class; it doesn't matter whether your answer is correct or not; if it's not what she was "looking for" the

I couldn't stand this lady. I hated how she teached, how she talked, how she tested and the things that she talked about everyday. I would never recommend taking any sort of class from her. She's looney and her teaching sucks. Sorry, Ms. Horton, but I didn't like anything about your class.

It helps to have Ecology and Evolution before taking this class. Those students who had those courses did better. The topic is excellent and the teacher is inspiring. Highly recommended.

Prof. Horton's exam are difficult because she is looking for specific points on them. (No M/C). There are few professors, however, that enjoy their work more and are as concerned that you (the student) do well. A great professor.

Demanding but fair. She will be a professor you look back on fondly because she expected so much of you, even if you're frazzled during the semester when she's expecting it.
