Comment:

This was a very involved, discussion-heavy class. No exams or traditional homework, just a handful of writing assignments , one of which is a long research paper. There are also weekly "mandatory" reading assignments and a few short solo presentations. He is very passionate about the subject matter and made class interesting. Very manageable!

I've never met a professor more dedicated to his students both inside and outside the classroom. If you put yourself out there, he'll take you in under his wing and do anything possible to help you succeed. He will demand a lot out of you but it's because he sees your potential and will push you to reach it. He makes the most out of a tough topic.

Every student that graduates college has that one professor that they will never forget. For me, Dr. Bowers is that professor. Listen to every word he says, but don't be afraid to question and think critically. He will demand everything you have to offer, and will not settle for anything less. You will walk away from his course a better person.

VERY HIGH STANDARDS but has sound reasoning. Some negative qualities are that he tends to have left leaning opinions as well as class favorites. Yet, he is a good teacher that does a good job and is fair if you merely put forth a lot of effort.

Dr. Bowers is an exceptional teacher. Really requires students to actually think, and not just regurgitate info on a paper. Highly personable, and relatable. Have reading quizzes and in depth papers, but no tests. I recommend Bowers to everyone!

You need to participate a lot in this class. Attendance was mandatory - I had to buy a clicker for $30. You also have about 4 novels to read in this class that will show up on midterm and final. This was a hard class - too much work.

He is an amazing teacher. His lectures are great and I hate history. I wish he was my teacher for all of my classes. HE does extraordinarily well, but the subject matter of HIST 260 sucks.

This class was wayyyy too hard for a gen. ed. Everything that you do in the class is based on writing, the exams are all essay, and have way too much work for the time you get......DO NOT take this class if you don't have to.

Prof. Bowers was the best History teacher that I had. He was very interesting, always had the powerpoints online to help you write the papers. The quizes sucked, but the extra credit and papers made up for them. =) He is a great teacher.

Great teacher. He can tend to be a little hard but he is just trying to get his class involved in what he is talking about. If there is ever a problem that you have email him and he will get back to you in a very fast amount of time. He is willing to help you if you are doing what you need to do. Overall help him to help you.

Not bad, but not great. Nice guy...okay lectures, knows his stuff. Is interested in teaching you something you haven't heard about topics you have studied since grade school. I was always nervous that I was going to get a bad grade on papers, but I always got an A.
